Job Description

:GENERIC INFORMATION ON THE FUNCTIONJob Title: Lead Scientist Location: India, MumbaiORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Manager R&TNo: of direct subordinates: NoKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design new molecules and do the research & process development for new effects for textile applications fulfilling the project defined by business
  • Very high level of expertise (Hands on experience) in polymer synthesis and oleo chemicals development in water for textile/coating chemistry for textile/coating applications.
  • Expert in surface science, polymer and surfactant screening for specialty textile effects.
  • Relevant industrial experience to develop products for cotton, polyester, polyester blend and engineering fabric .
  • Expert in know-how of synthesis and use of Polymers & Materials, surface modification or morphology development using surfactants and formulation chemistry with skill to address customer complain and market dynamics.
  • Knowledge of how to interpret and record scientific data with correct form of protect.
  • Familiar with various application technique in textile industry, like Homogenizer, Bundessman , FR testing machine etc.
  • Expertise in process development and technology transfer from lab to plant scale. Plan & prioritize the lab work to optimize the output
  • Accountable to handle vendor liasioning, souring and procurement of materials,
  • Accountable to deliver the project as per agreed timelines
  • Accountable for implement of Good laboratory practices & EHS practices at work station
  • Flexible and volunteering to work on different problems/tasks with cross functional team and seek new challenges
KEY REQUIREMENTSEducation: Ph.D, M.Tech.Subject Specialty: Textile Chemistry, Oleo ChemistryExperiencePh.D. 7 year relevant experienceM.Tech. 10 year relevant experiencePreferably from Textile, Chemical and FMCG Industry
  • Work experience in the Designing of the Molecules and Synthetic schemes, Polymer Synthesis, Materials Research and Process Development
  • Hand-on experience in the Formulation chemistry surfactants, dispersants, wetting agents in generating new textile effects is an advantage.
  • Working experience & exposure at scaling up and customer trials is desirable
Know-how/skills:
  • Strong know how in surface modification for Textile/coating Applications
  • Exposure to project management and stage-gating
  • Focus on priorities and deliver the work on time
  • Ability to work independently
  • Exposure for Six sigma and DOE (design of experiment)
  • Ability to travel for training and support
  • Languages: English , Local language
