Job Description

    Role purpose and contributionThis role is responsible for providing technical support, problem diagnosis/resolution and proactive database services, Managing operations and delivery of Database Services. We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator with excellent knowledge of Database Technologies especially Oracle 11G, 12C RAC/Partitioning/DB Vault/DB replication, Oracle Exadata.This role is responsible for managing operations and delivery of Database Services. Database L2 will be part of operations team running 24*7 and responsible for managing and coordinating the response and resolution of critical incidents along with daily operations.Role AccountabilitiesAccountabilityActions and MeasuresStrategy & Planning
    • Assist with the planning and deployment of Database Services and related services with security measures.
    • Shares Responsibility for Global Infrastructure operations.
    • IT vendor and 3rd party contract management.
    Operational Management
    • Maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
    • Implement and maintain policies, procedures (SOP documentation), and associated training plans.
    • Operational and support management including escalation and incident management procedures and execution.
    Experience & Qualifications
    • University degree or college diploma in the field of computer technology, information systems or business information systems.
    • 4-6 years of experience on Database Administration on Unix and Windows platform, 23 years or more work experience supporting large enterprise environments and complex networks and computer systems.
    • Oracle Certifications or equivalent work experience.
    • Understanding of ITIL methodologies preferred (Incident, change, configuration and problem management). ITIL certification will be added advantage.
    Key CompetenciesTechnical Skills
    • In depth knowledge of the Oracle database architecture (Single Instance, RAC and ASM), related utilities and tools on Oracle 10g, 11gr1, 11gr2 and 12c.
    • Working experience in EXADATA DATABASE MACHINE Storage cell administration & Oracle Supercluster
    • A good understanding of the underlying operating system (linux/Solaris/HP Unix) and knowledge of network and storage.
    • A good knowledge of the physical database design.
    • Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system (Unix/Linux/Solaris) performance tuning and monitoring.
    • A good knowledge and hands on experience of Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g and 12c, Real Application Clusters, Partitioning, Diagnostics & Tuning, Audit Vault & Database Firewall, Database Vault, Advanced Security.
    • Defining database standards and procedures to cover the instance parameters, object sizing, storage, and naming. The procedures define the process for install/upgrade, corporate database. requirements, security, backup/recovery and automate the same.
    • Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
    • Create and manage multiple databases and assist in capacity planning.
    • Use tools for database tuning. Generate traces, execution plans, identify performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolve them.
    • Develop strategies and implement solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication.
    • Developing database administration procedures and responsibilities for production systems.
    • Developing production database/storage(ASM) migration procedures.
    • Coordinating upgrades of system software products to resolve any Oracle/operating system issues/conflicts.
    • Knowledge of ALL Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
    • Good knowledge and hands on experience of Oracle high availability solutions like RAC and Dataguard.
    • Knowledge of RTPA standard checks and criteria per global governing process
    • Incident Management: Resolve single- and cross technology incidents independently. Work with team members to resolve unusually complex or cross technology incidents.
    • Problem Management: Proactively and reactively look for solutions to prevent problems from occurring in team/technology area.
    • Change Management/Implementation: Independently review, implement, and verify changes/solutions of high complexity and risk to meet customer and/or trade/company Information Technology infrastructure needs.
    • Patch and Security Management: Apply patch and security changes per policy. Proactively monitor the environment for patch compliance. Analyze patches for compatibility with each customer or internal infrastructure environment.
    • Configuration Management: Ensure Configuration Management Database (CMDB) entries are complete and accurate.
    • Solution Design: Apply company solutions to meet highly complex customer and/or trade/companyIT infrastructure needs.

    • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with technology professionals
    • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
    • Experience managing Incident and Request tickets with ITSM tools.
    • Must be able to remain calm in a stressful environment and work overtime if needed.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact positively with end-users and vendors on a daily basis
