Job Description

Pepper Content - Managing Editor (5-6 yrs)Job Overview : At Pepper Content, we are building the largest content solutions ecosystem in the globe, and we aim to bring together the very best professional writers and editors to deliver high-quality content for leading brands and enterprises. We are scaling up our operations rapidly, and the Managing Editor will be responsible for maintaining quality standards and growing our content operations in the marketing and advertising domain. As a key stakeholder in maintaining the quality of content for the copywriting operations, the Managing Editor (Copy chief) will have complete ownership over the quality of deliverables for this particular domain, develop growth-focused strategies, and ensure optimization in communication between clients, creators and editors. The ideal candidate working with Pepper in this role must have extensive experience in ad copywriting, copy editing and reviewing domain-specific content, supervising 8 to 10 copywriters, and building sustainable processes to foster growth. The Managing Editor will report directly to the Head of Editorial. This is a full-time role preferably based out of the Mumbai office (once normalcy is restored).Primary responsibilities : Quality assurance: Setting a benchmark for quality expectations and maintaining a high standard of quality for all deliverables in the advertising and copywriting domain. Identifying lapses in quality and proactively improving overall content quality through scalable quality frameworks.Reviewing: Reviewing and sampling edited pieces to ensure factual accuracy, depth of research, domain expertise, and quality of language before project delivery.Communication: Ensuring client requirements are communicated effectively to content writers and editors. Responding to and resolving queries that come from editors and writers. Evaluation: Conduct performance assessment for writers and editors on a regular basis and conduct briefing and review sessions to satisfy evolving quality expectations.Briefing and Preparation: Collaborating with the content management team to create briefing materials, such as concept notes, writing guidelines, and instruction videos. Liaisoning: Engaging periodically with clients and the internal team to set quality expectations, understand requirements, and provide insights to the content strategy team.Operations: Creating execution strategies for content writers and editors in collaboration with the operations and delivery teams. Collaborate with the Operations team to create allocation strategies and manage deadlines.Team building and mentoring: Manage a diverse group of editors and build a strong team of experts as the business grows.Ideal candidate : - Strong experience in senior editorial roles (Minimum 6 years) specifically in the advertising and marketing industry. Preferably, the candidate must have extensively worked with content marketing-specific content in the digital media space.- Strong knowledge of advertising standards and copywriting.- Strong copywriting and editorial skills, with advanced knowledge of applied grammar.- At least 3 years of experience in managing teams of editors and handling queries.- A good understanding of content writing, content marketing, and SEO is an advantage.- Strong experience in managing highly fluid work environments and managing multiple projects at the same time- Excellent deadline-management skills and the ability to balance quality standards and delivery timelines.- We are excited to share Peppers vision and mission with you.
