Job Description

    The Product Controller team is an integral component of the CIB Finance & Business Management (F&BM) function and is responsible for providing business advisory and accounting support, control oversight and integrity of the financial statements and transaction end-to-end control in support of the business. Responsibilities of this team include, but are not limited to, oversight of financial statement and management reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting policies including new business initiatives and product review, business performance control, business analytics and expense management. The External / Internal Reporting Team (within the Product Controller function) is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of financial reporting of LOB-specific financial information provided to the central reporting functions responsible for consolidation into firm-wide to both external (e.g. regulatory) and internal stakeholders. Job Responsibilities : This position provides a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to gain a broad understanding across the Payments business and become a valued partner to the various Finance Teams within the F&BM function. The successful candidate will have strong accounting, communication, and teamwork skills which will be critical to developing strong partnerships across multiple functions and regions. The role includes:
    • Coordinate the preparation of monthly/quarterly regulatory reporting requirements (10Q/10K, Volcker, Reg W, etc.) through partnership with regional Product Controllers and Central CIB Reporting. Key submissions include loans, equity investment, Off Balance Sheet Reporting, Fair Value Measurement (FVM), etc.
    • Ensure Completeness of Finance deck and Board committee papers for monoline Legal entity for Merchant Acquiring business of Payments.
    • Reporting: Preparation of the 4 quarterly prudential returns for submission to regulators. Preparation of slides for the Board and Risk & Control decks, engagement in budgets and analysis of results vs. budget
    • The role requires communication with a broad range of counterparts and stakeholders across the regions, including accounting policy, product controllers, financial controllers, entity controllers, tax, legal, various project teams, and business control officers; strong relationship management skills are needed to be effective; expansion of personal networks is encouraged.
    • The role also provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on efficiency improvement projects, process re-engineering and develop some project management experience.
    • The external reporting environment is undergoing significant changes over the next few years and candidate will be involved in a broad number of new initiatives as a result.
    Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
    • 6 - 8 years experience with accounting / financial services background.
    • Dynamic team player able to adapt to changing environment and multiple demands
    • Enthusiastic self-starter; inquisitive/curious; desire to understand the big picture
    • Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
    • Excellent time management skills, being flexible to handle multiple tasks at the same time and prioritize the tasks in the order of importance
    • Excellent technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including extensive experience using Excel and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of Business Objects (CDGL) SAP, FDW, and ERA
    Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
    • Accounting qualification preferred but not essential
    • Keen focus on continuous process and reporting improvements
    • Banking experience and some understanding of payments is desirable, but not mandatory
    • Experience in Board reporting and Planning & analysis are added advantage
