Job Description

    • End to end product life cycle management activity related to positioning & execution of SCB AG s as additional Trade hub post Brexit with primary focus on Open Account Trade solutions
    • Lead the growth in primarily Open Account Trade (and secondary focus on Documentary Trade) solutions for European clients as well as Asian/African/Middle Eastern clients needing trade solutions in continental Europe
    • Build a strategy around Open Account Trade developments arising from UK Brexit between key footprint corridors
    • Manage Open Account Trade Products across client segments in booking centre with end to end responsibility and oversight over strategy and key metrics (Revenue, utilization & replacement ratios, RWA, Returns, Growth etc)
    • Maintain sound governance and risk standards of managed products
    Profitability / Product Management
    • Product ownership across TB Trade relating to primarily Open Account Trade (and Documentary Trade) suite
    • Provide business development and strategic direction to the assigned client segment business in Europe across trade products suite.
    • Drive active engagement across multiple stakeholders to ensure appropriate support for deal prospecting and closure.
    • Own the Trade Budget and Revenue, Cost, Capital & Balance management
    • Execute regional deployment of global trade product developments / functionalities with local & central teams.
    • Demonstrate active product life cycle management through delivery of monthly MIS (front to back alignment from Sales to Operations); annual assessments of products, demonstrating they are Fit for Purpose & Growth as per TB Product Programmes.
    • Main Product contact for the segment to execute Trade commercialization agenda to include, initiative execution, support key deals (including RFPs) and strategic wallet penetration activities including working with segment sales teams to drive Client targeting strategies on primarily Booked Asset and Contingent, utilisation and replacement ratios: fee collection processes.
    • Ensure appropriate governance is in place for Trade Products handled regionally and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the product complies all process and policy guidelines.
    • Capture competitor intelligence and regulatory information and use it to develop or reinforce our competitive edge
    • React to new trends and technology and provide feedback to link those with current offering and impact to clients. Work closely with Technology and Channels team to realize the objective of Trade Digitisation.
    • Monitor against budgeted revenue forecasts, highlight underperforming products / regions and devise remedial and supportive action.
    • Pricing: Establish and implement competitive and transparent pricing policies and standard pricing guidelines to maximise product profitability and shareholder value.
    • Production, socialisation & actions derived from product performance analytics, including execution and service analytics to demonstrate E2E product performance.
    • Capital and Return: RWA, RoRWA and Standard Pricing alignment
    Client Engagement
    • Support for Key RFP and critical deals; strategic clients and those high-potential names for increasing the trade and swift market share penetration
    • Maintain high level of client contact, including client fora, workgroups, industry events and client meetings to ensure continuous improvement and positioning of Standard Chartered solutions.
    • Monitor competitive positioning and provide comparison / positioning analysis to drive new initiatives
    • Represent the regional client needs and developing needs in any global initiatives to ensure fit for purpose solutions
    • Support sales campaign activities, with objective of wallet expansions across segments
    Brand, Marketing & Training
    • Conduct training and workshops for internal stakeholders across specific solutions or initiatives. Regular webinars and engagement with Sales, Coverage and Operations to further strengthen Trade Product knowledge including planning and driving Trade Training calendar across the region as required
    • Build partnerships or alliances with vendors, ECAs etc to develop thought leadership and share of mind.
    Strategy
    • Active, demonstrable ownership & execution of e2e product life cycle activities through Product Annual Assessment processes, at minimum.
    • Creation of Regional Feedback loop representing industry / client / regulatory and competitor insight to global centres of excellence within TB
    • Competitiveness and external capabilities benchmarking & communication of same to global teams.
    • Digitization strategies & execution- including increasing e-penetration rate with Europe on booked and originated client base
    Risk & Governance
    1. Monitor and manage risks arising from Trade product
    1. Ensure Trade structures are appropriate to the level of client risk
    2. Engage and escalate material red flags that arise in the transaction flow
    3. Support optimising risk and returns
    4. Support portfolio exercises as required, identify and monitor large concentrations of risk in your Trade portfolio
    1. Monitor and manage the risks arising from the delivery of the Trade product
    1. Support identification and closure of Operational Risk Events, audit issues and their action plans.
    Regulatory & Business Conduct

    Our Ideal Candidate
    • Prerequisite: proven extended experience in Regional / global Product Management in International Trade
    • Products) with a Trade Bank. Exposure to open account trade is preferable.
    • Working Knowledge of SWIFT, ICC Rules and other market leading fora like IFC, BAFT etc
    • Ability to keep abreast on changes in the market, customer requirement, competitor response and the Banks ability to use information to identify new business opportunities.
    • Depth of understanding of financial regulation impacting International Trade Business. Proven ability to commercialize regulatory requirements internally & towards clients in form of internal directions around operational / investment balances and positioning of same with clients.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence directly, indirectly and virtually across the SCB network.
