  • Standard Chartered is a major player in Transaction Banking (TB), combining deep local knowledge and global capability to offer the full scope of innovative, customised solutions in trade finance and cash management. As a top three global trade finance bank we are a key driver of Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking ( CCIB ) aspiration. We have a unique business focus on enabling trade, investment and supply chain financing for, in and out from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We aim to be a one-stop gateway providing supply chain and liquidity management for corporates and financial institutions. And we are committed to using our cross-border network to facilitate our local clients growing trade and investment flows, working capital and supply chain financing needs across our business footprint. TB services clients in over 85 markets.
  • TB contributes to roughly 1/3 of CCIB revenues ($2.8b in 2020), with ~$115b of assets and contingents and provides ~$200b of corporate deposits funding to the franchise.
The Role Responsibilities:
  • The TB Finance System Change Lead will report into the Aspire Change team, GFS India and support the System implementation of key TB systems, such as TradeXpress, through business partnership in an advisory and project management capacity. The role has overall responsibilities of ensuring Finance aspects relating to TB systems are duly considered, documented in Forums and PPGs, appropriately communicated across stakeholders, both within finance and the wider Business & non-finance community and tested appropriately on a Global basis and within agreed timelines.
  • sThis role involves frequent interactions with Country Finance, Operations, Business stakeholders and Technology teams. This role will require a strong executor and communicator, who is resourceful and organized, with the ability to trouble shoot with minimal supervision. The selected individual will also take part to support Finance in the broader Aspire project for Transaction Banking business.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Support the finance agenda in new and evolving TB platform development to ensure appropriate information flows and application of relevant accounting policies into financial reporting systems, including mapping of lifecycle events
  • Lead the engagement with Country / Business Finance, Regional Finance, Regulatory reporting and Treasury teams with Aspire/TradeXpress teams. Lead Working Group meetings, track actions and facilitate issue resolution. Ensure detailed remediation plans are in place to address the Finance aspects of impacted products, systems and processes.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing ( UAT ) with users (e.g. Country Finance, Capital reporting, Treasury) and Technology teams, where relevant. Be involved in the remediation of finance issues arising from such testing and obtain Finance sign off at various project milestones
  • Act as coordinator between Finance and other stakeholders in institutionalising the Transaction Processing (TP) - General Ledger (GL - Aspire) reconciliation and controls alongside related Roles & Responsibilities
  • Support Finance stakeholders to escalate any critical issues with deliverables and facilitate meetings to resolve impediments and issues
  • Manage internal communications to different stakeholder groups to ensure they are kept up to date with relevant developments and project milestones
  • Oversight of existing booking model and the data standards to drive consistency of Global bookings across geographies, with active participation in developing new booking models and ensure appropriate Group accounting flows where required.
  • Responsible for review & updates of Global Transaction Banking Product Programmes PPGs on behalf of Global Finance for the relevant TB CFOs. The TB CFOs to table any updates at relevant governance forums and approve on behalf of finance.
  • Prepare and deliver ongoing training to ensure any changes to systems, processes or roles & responsibilities are well understood mitigate any risks of material misstatement from the changes.
  • Keep abreast with evolving regulatory changes and any impact on the TB business
Key Competencies:
  • Deep understanding and application of complex Products, Accounting, Systems, Controls, Substantiation, industry/market developments (ie. IBOR transition) and accounting policy changes.
  • Ability to perform high quality project management, covering scope, planning, financial, resource and risk and issues management

  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely, communicate effectively and problem-solving skills

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 15+ years relevant experience in performance management or business finance partnering, gained in financial services/banking sector
  • Qualified Accountant, with degree in finance or economics; MBA/CA or other post graduate qualifications
  • Project management qualification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) - preferred
  • Proficient in MS Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI). Working knowledge of finance systems and reporting tools like MRC, PMI, OBIEE, Tableau, Workbench.
