Job Description

The VAVE Lead Engineer will be responsible to identify and implement potential cost-saving ideas and processes across JCI Global Products by conducting VAVE, product benchmarking and teardown workshops. The role of VAVE Engineer is to drive an accurate and consistent process for product cost measurement and tracking and to lead the analysis of current costs versus benchmarking data, both internal and external. He/she should have broad experience in the manufacturing industry to be able to develop cost models for various commodities like Plastic, Sheet metal, Casting, Machining, etc. To be able to assess the manufacturing and assembly process by looking at the physical parts. Should be well versed in various materials, manufacturing/assembly process, PLM systems. He/she will collaborate within the Manufacturing and Procurement team to achieve timely and accurate reporting of data, and then lead the analysis of the data with cross-functional teams to identify and quantify opportunities for improvementHow you will do it

  • Conduct VAVE, product benchmarking, and teardown workshop to identify potential cost-saving improvements
  • Work with the plant to optimize current processes and reduce scrap
  • Investigate alternative designs to maintain performance while reducing cost and weight
  • Verify and compare the complex costed bill of materials for accuracy and help to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement/cost reduction
  • Establish costing models for key products and components to enable directional decision making thereby cost improvement
  • Implement viable cost, product, and process improvement proposals identified by closely working with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality teams
  • Drive continuous improvement and process automation, in collaboration with IT, of our internal JCI data collection; troubleshoots and removes barriers to data collection.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to designers, model makers, technicians, and/or programmers to ensure timely implementation of improvement proposals.
  • Individually prepares reports to illustrate and track cost improvement for all product groups and prepares relevant financial reports on results.
  • Participate in design reviews for all new product launches to ensure the implementation of previous lessons learned and the application of any new product and/or process improvements.
  • Follow established safety procedures while conducting product teardown
  • Actively contribute to departmental initiatives/process improvements to enhance the overall department s effectiveness.
What we look forRequired
  • B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech - Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years experience in experience working with product or system design in a manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience working in mechanical VAVE/Benchmarking projects
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing process of sheet metal and plastic components.
  • Experience with Item Master data, BOM structure/costing, engineering change process, etc.
  • Experience in Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in continuous improvement, process improvement, benchmarking, etc.
  • Broad technical understanding (products, development, manufacturing, product cost analysis, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience on aPriori software
Preferred
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Program management experience
  • Proven interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong communication skills, presentation skills
  • HVAC product portfolio knowledge is advantageous
  • Excellent computer skills, data analysis/management, SAP Know-How is a plus
  • Six sigma green/white belt certification
