Job Description

System Firmware QA SpecialistAt Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), we live by three core values that drive our business: Partner. Innovate. Act. These values combine to help us create important work all over the world to advance how people live and work.Designing test, developing test automation and testing of system firmware supporting Mission Critical x86 based servers. Supporting development of system firmware validation teams and technical troubleshooting. Improving Automation framework, Reviewing of test plans and test reports.Designs, Develops automation for tests. Troubleshooting and debugging test scripts. Support validation of system firmware enhancements and new products.Responsibilities:

  • Develops test plan and test cases analyzing the new feature enabled or specific enhancements or bug fixes planned in system firmware.
  • Analyze and design the automation to be carried out on the identified tests. Enhance / Develop the automation framework to support new product feature.
  • Test as per plans, and documentation.
  • identifies and triage issues in synch with developers and suggests changes or improvements
  • Represent the team with other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced partners in developing reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Typically 6-10 years experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Using software systems test tools and languages supporting test Automation.
  • Experiences in leading testing on PC or server evaluation platforms (Intel, AMI, ARM,IBM PowerPC,CISCO), HW or Telco platforms, microprocessors, microcontrollers, embedded applications, embedded or Real time OS
  • Working experience in System firmware and Manageability firmware on Mission Critical Servers
  • Experience in development of automation frameworks, FW test bench or work bench & HW Debug tools know how would be preferred
  • Design experience of test Automation frame works for firmware testing along with good scripting knowledge in Python
  • Experience in QA function for OS/firmware based components
  • Working knowledge of OS system level concepts File-system, Basic networking and OS administration knowledge with Unix/Linux/Windows systems
  • Good analytical, problem solving & debugging skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English.
