As an IoT Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions within an organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop strategies and deploy IoT devices and platforms that enhance operational efficiency and enable data-driven decision-making. Your role will involve overseeing the entire IoT project lifecycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance. ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop IoT strategies: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify opportunities for IoT integration. Develop comprehensive IoT strategies aligned with organizational goals. Design IoT solutions: Design end-to-end IoT solutions, including hardware selection, connectivity options, data acquisition, and device management. Ensure scalability, security, and interoperability of IoT systems. IoT device deployment: Identify and procure IoT devices, sensors, and actuators suitable for specific use cases. Oversee the installation, configuration, and integration of devices into existing infrastructure. Data management: Define data collection and storage requirements for IoT solutions. Implement data governance policies, ensuring data quality, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations. Analytics and insights: Analyze IoT-generated data to derive actionable insights and drive informed decision-making. Develop data visualization dashboards and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders. Security and privacy: Implement robust security measures to protect IoT infrastructure, including authentication, encryption, and access control mechanisms. Stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities related to IoT technologies. Troubleshooting and maintenance: Monitor IoT systems, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and perform routine maintenance activities. Ensure the availability and reliability of IoT infrastructure. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE Bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. A masters degree is preferred. Proven experience in working with IoT technologies, including IoT platforms, protocols (such as MQTT, OPCUA), and edge computing. Strong knowledge of networking concepts, Industrial protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and wireless communication (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular). Experience in programming languages commonly used in IoT development, such as Python and JavaScript is desirable. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure IoT, AWS IoT, Google Cloud IoT) and their services for IoT deployments. Experience in data analytics and visualization tools for deriving insights from IoT- generated data (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI). Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing IoT systems. Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within timelines. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Stay abreast of the latest IoT technologies, trends, and industry standards. Evaluate emerging IoT solutions and recommend their adoption based on business needs and feasibility.
