Job Description

Site Finance Controller - CoimbatoreAbout Alstom in IndiaAlstom has established a strong presence in India. Currently, the company is executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow where it is supplying Rolling Stock manufactured out its state of the art facility at SriCity in Andhra Pradesh. In the Mainline space, Alstom is executing Signaling & Power Supply Systems for the 343 Km. section on World Bank funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Phase 1 in the construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 units of 12000HP locomotives is also complete at Madhepura, Bihar while the depot at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh is ready to commence operation. Alstom has set up an Engineering Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and this coupled with a strong manufacturing base as well as localized supply chains, is uniquely positioned to serve customers across the globe. Today, Alstom in India employs close to 3600 people and in line with Government of India s Make in India policy initiative, Alstom has been investing heavily in the country in producing world class rolling stock, components, design, research and development to not only serve the domestic market, but also rest of theJOB PURPOSE SUMMARY :The Controller position, reporting to Industrial Finance Controller - Rolling Stock India, will have the responsibility to provide Finance Business Partnering support to the Business and the extended Finance Community at the site. He/She is expected to work closely with our Businesses, Operations and Projects to optimise Alstom profitability and cash generation in India, whilst providing internal and external stakeholders with timely, reliable and valuable financial information.REPORTING : This position reports to Industrial Finance Controller - Rolling Stock India and functional reporting to Business Operations MD.The Finance Function at Alstom Transport has set for itself three main goals:
    1. to provide accurate and timely financial information internally and externally using the same language throughout the Group, through structured and efficient financial information systems
    2. to be the guardian of the rule, enhancing internal control by ensuring proper compliance with internal and external regulations and promotion of clear and efficient processes and instructions, ensuring compliance with local regulations, notably for tax and statutory accounts purpose
    3. to be a Business partner, contributing to the achievement of Alstom Transports global objectives and value creation in terms of cash generation, profitability, risk control and project execution, through adequate performance management processes.
    The Key Responsibilites of the Controller include some of the following
    • Provide the Business MD & Management teams with sound & timely financial information as well as transparent risks & opportunities analysis
    • Be the financial partner to the business and a key member of the Project Management Team, advising, supporting, alerting and challenging the projects around critical issues
    • Propose appropriate set of KPIs and define relevant processes to help the Region monitor business and promote action plans across sites to improve business performance
    • Approve financial commitments & risks in line with DoA and 3YP KPIs with regards to Capex, Strategic investments and project reviews
    • Establish a close relationship with the respective functions and ensure full alignment of strategy with Alstom Transport objectives .
    • Ensure adequate internal controls are implemented and maintained on all units within the scope of the Product Line.
    • Manage S&I financial community and its successful development to meet current & future needs at business, sector and group level.
    • Control internal & external costs, commitments & interfaces toward suppliers, action plans, roadmaps. Develop Budgets, Forecasts and related MIS submissions.
    • Support Monthly Business reviews with leadership in India and Asia Pacific on the divisional and project performance and coordinate with various stakeholders to develop the business review deck and material.
    • Ensure project performance is well integrated into financial reporting for projects.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES OF THE ROLE include overseeing
    1. Measurement and Financial Controllership of the Coimbatore SiteEstablish monthly result and perform the site review to the Indian Management team. Ensure a good finance awareness to the Coimbatore Site Management team and animate them regularly on the challenges and current status.
    2. B usiness Partnering : Site Operations Finance business partnership activities will be managed by you !As a consequence, you will have recurrent interfaces with the S&I team, and with other finance teams from ALSTOM and review processes to eliminate non value added activities and streamline operations and report on project financial performance3. Action Plans to drive cost reductions, monitoring & controllingThe Finance partner, will lead the development and measurement of these action plans, tracking risks & opportunities, evolve roadmaps to reduce cost and improve efficiency.4. Budget & ForecastBuild, with his/her counterpart, budget & forecast for each Site Operations team taking into account cost and efficiency targets, workloads & cost drivers, footprint evolutions, action plans set.A key success factor will be to give visibility to the Management in India & in Asia Pacific on the project and functional financial performance and on forecasts through budget & 3YP processes, highlighting risks & opportunities as well as mitigation plans & outcomes achieved.5. Business Reviews & Consolidation.The role requires familiarity of how budgets are set across individual S&I cost centers and ensuring common rules and practices are applied to maintain consistency. It also entails review of overall and individual financials to better explain financial performance to key stakeholders, including local India senior management. It will require familiarity with SAP, reporting tools used in Alstom and also submission of forecasts, actuals and budgets for the Corporate team.6. Tenders supportThe role requires continuous support during the tender stage in verifying the costing, the CPA formulas and all financial items, like Forex, firming etcProfile: To be considered for this role, the candidate need to be able to demonstrate the following skills experience and attributes:
    • The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and thorough exposure to business partnering and bring at least 12 - 16 years of relevant experience, working in a senior finance role in India. International experience is desirable but not necessary.
    • At ease working with major organizational & regional transformation projects with experience in EPC, manufacturing.
    • Hands-on: proven financial control, risk management & compliance experience, coupled with the ability to act as a commercial business partner to the business. Experience working with senior management and previous experience of remote management preferred. Strong costing and business sense.
    • Leader: Good communication skills. Able to build and maintain relationships a team, as well as with other stakeholders in the organization. Able to constructively challenge others
    • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
