About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionThe Technology function provides IT services to the Fidelity International business, globally. These include the development and support of business applications that underpin our revenue, operational, investment, compliance, finance, legal, marketing and customer service functions. The broader organisation incorporates Infrastructure services that the firm relies on to operate on a day to day basis including data centre, networks, proximity services, security, voice, incident management and remediation.Purpose of your roleAs a Cloud Programmer you will play a key role on a global programme working with Product Owners and Technology teams within Fidelity International to deliver a new technology platform to support Fidelity International s wealth management aspirations.Working alongside the business proposition team and the technology architects you will need to utilise your experience of working in cloud platform engineering to assist with the engineering aspects, design, definition, exploration and delivery of an end to end solution to service a scaling global Wealth Management business.The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge of working in an Agile environment using Agile tools and techniques, cloud architecture knowledge, Networking knowledge, DevOps toolchains with good skillsets on Python, Java and Unix scripting. You will have experience working with full scale Scrum or Kanban and be a competent user of Jira and Confluence.You must have a passion for delivering high quality and scalable solutions with a continued focus on the customer need. You should be both willing to challenge and to be challenged on where things can be improved and are comfortable working alongside other engineers in a pair programming environment.You will be required to effectively influence and assist key stakeholders, support the formation of a new team and commence delivery of a largely greenfield solution. A willingness to take on new challenges, collaborate and share knowledge freely with the global team is also critical to success.Key ResponsibilitiesThis position requires a strong self-starter with solid technical engineering background, who can assist development teams with architecture, design decisions, coding, trouble shooting, and any other technical issues related to implementation of a customer facing proposition.Define and deliver a highly scalable, secure and robust infrastructure architecture along with the tools to support it, using the latest open source technologies and cloud services.Define a defence in depth solution to protect cloud applications in line with prevailing industry & enterprise security standards and policies.Own architectural requirements of the cloud platform, including technology / cloud service evaluation, test automation frameworks, infrastructure-as-code and continuous delivery/deployment pipelines.Work closely with product owners and scrum masters to define user stories and leverage the best practice of agile development to achieve key architectural objectives.Act as a conduit to global, security and infrastructure architecture functions.Dive in and do whatever it takes to get things done.Responsible for delivering and providing technical expertise as part of the delivery team from both design and day to day coding and cloud engineeringWorking with product owners identify new improvements, customer requirements and follow through to delivery.Ensure delivery in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.Ensures that technical solutions are fit for purpose, including for functional, non-functional and support requirements and aligned to Global Technology Strategies.Be the trusted advisor to the business.Partner closely with Architecture, business and supporting central groups while working within a global team.Experience and Qualifications
• 5 to 6 years of hands on experience on cloud technologies
Essential Skills / Experience
• Significant commercial experience of delivering cloud-native solutions on a public cloud platform (preferably AWS).
• Experience of core AWS services from development through to production (e.g. EC2, ECS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFront, API Gateway)
• Practical experience of API driven infrastructure automation using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Developing lambdas on AWS.
• Container technologies; Docker, Kubernetes, ECS or EKS.
• Building & delivering continuous delivery / deployment solutions using Jenkins/Concourse/AWS Code Pipeline.
• Event driven Architecture; messaging & pub/sub.
• Use of software design patterns and engineering best practice.
• Agile software experience.
• Management of Product Engineering including Vendor Products
• Engineering lead for Record Keeping Capabilities
• Experience managing in a fast paced, complex and dynamic global environment with the ability to convey passion, energy and intensity
• Deep expertise in Product design within a consumer-oriented driven environment.
• Experience of using source code management tools such as SVN/GIT
• Passion for growing your skills and tackling challenging problems
Desirable Skills / Experience
• Large scale software product development experience with contemporary tools and delivery methods in a complex environment, i.e. Agile/SAFe, Test Modernization, CI/CD, Cloud Solutions, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to the Finance/Mutual Fund industry would be an advantage
• Basic UNIX Skills (Basic commands and basic Shell Scripting)
• API design and development; OpenAPI, REST, or GraphQL.
