Job Description

    Inviting applications for the role of Domain Trainee , Technical Accounting Responsibilities: Generic: The positions operate in a dynamic and deadline driven environment and are well suited to those with strong processing skills and a positive, can do attitude. The candidate must have below:
    • Manage proportional and non-proportional contracts to determine premium and claims booking, including reserve movement, cash call paid / refund. Processing of Deposit premium, endorsements, RIP s etc.
    • Experience of handling complex treaty reinsurance agreements that require processing outside the standard reinsurance workflow
    • Collaborate with appropriate upstream and downstream process to expedite technical booking, especially with credit control team to manage unmatched cash situation. Report and provide resolution to issues preventing the accurate and prompt completion of premium booking transactions
    • Ability to perform reconciliation of open bookings to verify accuracy of premium booked
    • Support and guide team to manage business service levels and maintain process accuracy (audit)
    • Understand all reinsurance processes and be able to research / process daily assumed business volume and handle business queries effectively
    • Manage daily inventory and ensure all control checks are in place. Maintain work tracking system to provide up to date and accurate metrics
    • Adherence to underwriting rules and guidelines and developing strong customer relationships through providing top-notch service
    • Willing to work flexible and varying shifts through the year and also must react positively and effectively to the needs of handling volume spikes (usually at quarter & Year ends)
    Qualifications and Experience:
    • B. Com / B.Sc. / B.A
    • Any graduate except technical
    • Reinsurance Technical Accounting
    Knowledge:
    • Good understanding of P&C Reinsurance business
    • Good understanding of Reinsurance Premium booking for both proportional and non-proportional accounts (especially Treaty contracts) which includes .
      • Understanding of Bordereau s
      • Calculation of Premium (Deposit Premium, Written Premium, Earned & Un-Earned Premium)
      • Calculations of various types of commissions & Deductions
    • Knowledge of Proportional claims and adjusting loss reserves, paid & outstanding losses and IBNR
    • Exposure to UK & US Reinsurance markets
    • Preferred Certification in Insurance & Reinsurance e.g. IIA & ARE
    Soft Skills
    • Advance excel knowledge required
    • Good written and Verbal Communication
    • Good in Analytical Ability and Decision Making
    Technical skills:
    • Word, Excel, internet, intranet, must be savvy about being able to navigate web screens to download sop s, broker invoices, flowcharts and guidelines
