Job Description

We at Routing and Switching team are looking for an experienced, motivated and talented individual. You must be interested in progressing your career in advanced networking and virtualization technologies with good exposure to NFV development for different compute platforms. You will have an influential and challenging role contributing to next generation routing capabilities and distributed systems focused on carrier grade capability, scale and reliability.Responsibilities

  • Architect development of new cutting-edge packet based virtualized solutions for distributed carrier grade products.
  • Design, develop and sustain advanced simulation environments for routing products at Ciena
  • Drive learning and development of skills required for development of virtualized routing products and simulation environments
General Activities
  • Architect and contribute in software design, development, validation, and documentation to deliver high quality, functionally excellent products.
  • Lead customer engagements driving deployments and be a technology evangelist for Ciena in this area
  • Translate market directions, customer requirements, and new industry standards into software design and execution activities.
  • Assist and lead in early product demonstrations to customers.
  • Trouble shoot issues. Identify root cause, debug & deliver robust timely fixes.
  • Understand and work on evolution of different ITU-T/IEEE/IETF standards in area of network virtualization
Collaboration with Global stakeholders
  • Cross functional R&D teams.
  • PLM and Product Architects.
  • 3rd party vendors.
  • Field Support teams
Experience / Skill Required:
  • 8 years of experience with Bachelor s/ Master s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).
  • Excellent C programming skills with strong debugging and trouble shooting skills over Linux platform.
  • Strong exposure to TCP/IP stack of Linux kernel and data path development in linux environment
  • Strong knowledge on virtualized solutions OpenStack & QEMU-KVM
  • Good understanding on data plane implementations of L2/L3/MPLS technologies
  • Exposure to distributed system architecture concepts like High availability, ISSU will be a plus
  • Experience in complex board and device bring up in Linux Kernel environment
  • Knowledge of IP Routing protocols is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas.
  • Effectively able to work independently with little hands-on supervision delivering to aggressive timelines.
  • Team oriented; strong inter-personal skills and Leadership to take initiatives to completion independently in a collaborative environment.
