About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionThe ISS Technology provides systems development, business analysis, architecture & engineering, implementation and support services for FIL s Investment Management, Investment Services & Fund Accounting and several other business groups globally. The department supports the business units catering to the entirety of FIL s Investment Process for all asset classes in all of FIL s international locations, including London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Mumbai.Purpose of your roleSenior Analyst Programmer is a technology expert who is highly skilled in programming, engineering and problem-solving skills. If doing technical discussions and whiteboarding with peers excites you and code reviews adds fuel to your tank, come we are looking for you.This Senior Analyst Programmer opening is for Java developer in the Portfolio Construction and Order Generation technology group within the ISS - IM Technology. The ideal candidate should be hands-on with Java, JDBC, XML, Spring along with some working knowledge of Angular as well. The successful candidate will take responsibility of development of one or more applications and workstreams in the PC&OG space and will be responsible for enhancing, maintaining and providing L3 support of those applications. The candidate with exposure to agile delivery methods shall be preferred.Key Responsibilities and Expectations

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code as per the business requirements
• Understand the requirements, evaluate potential products / solutions and provide technical recommendations
• Be hands on with technology and to contribute to the design and development of projects where deemed necessary
• Liaison with Project Managers, Delivery Architect, Business Analyst and other Subject Matter experts to ensure successful deliveries.
• Providing estimates as per the requirements specified by the business.
• Identify and manage risks to conclusion escalating as appropriate
• Work with project / operational areas as required to safeguard production service when changes are introduced into the production environment.
• Raising the productivity and quality of development teams by promoting agile practices and sharing skills through mentoring and/or pairing.
• Ability to apply development language knowledge to supply development solutions efficiently that comply with coding standards, technical design, performance requirements and functional specifications

Experience and Qualifications Required

• 4-6 years of technical experience in Software / IT industry in Development in multiple projects
• Excellent software designing, programming, engineering and problem-solving skills
• Expert on JAVA ecosystem, common frameworks, like spring modules, ORM, JMS, REST, API gateways.
• Basic knowledge of Angular would be an extra advantage
• Experience & expertise of developing cloud native applications using serverless and/or containerised applications
• Ability, willingness & openness to experiment / evaluate / adopt with new technologies
• Passion for technology, engineering, problem solving and team working
• Translate application story and use cases into functional applications
• Application Build and Deployment using Ant/Maven Scripts
• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Familiarity with continuous integration
• Understanding or working experience of scrum framework
• Working knowledge and experience on PaaS
• Experienced with technologies including Java, JDBC, XML, Spring Core, Spring MVC and Spring DAO
• Good exposure on Multithreaded applications.
• Exposure to Unit testing Methodologies like Junit and Mocking frameworks
• Experience of using source code management tools such as SVN
• Knowledge on Messaging (e.g. WebSphere MQ, JMS API)
• Understanding of Agile model
• Motivated, flexible, with a can do approach and a penchant for quality
• Delivery and results focused
• Ability to prioritise own activities, work under hard deadlines
