If your experience looks a little different from what we ve identified below and you think you can bring value to the role, we d love to learn more about you!.Dimension and Scope:This role is for a dynamic and versatile NMS/SDN solutions SE to work for Cienas NMS, and SDN Solutions.The key focus of the role will be on our domain controller: MCP (Manage, Control and Plan). MCP provides end-to-end lifecycle operations that unify network and service management and online network planning through software-defined control.Built on an open, extensible micro-services architecture, the MCP domain controller brings the power of software-defined programmability to Ciena s next-generation networks and service operations. Iteliminates manual and time-consuming steps between multiple management tools, and it provides the foundation from which you can evolve your operations to drive intelligent automation and orchestration across multi-vendor multi-domains.The desired candidate will be part of the Global Sales Engineering support team within the Global Sales Engineering organization. The candidate will be expected to work in a cross-functional matrix organization supporting and collaborating with various internal stakeholders like the Accounts team, Sales Engineering, PLM, Professional Services Team, Solutions Introduction team, Bid Management, R&D and Lab teams to support the pre-sales consulting requirements of Cienas customers.Alongside consulting(both internal and customer), the candidate will also be required to participate in the RFP bidding and response activity, build technical solution documents and conduct internal and customer centric training and knowledge transfer sessions as required.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Sales engineering activities on Ciena s NMS, SDN and Tool portfolios (MCP, MCP Applications & Adaptive IP Apps) such as Customer presentations, Demos, RFP responses and internal collaboration.
• Develop and present Technical Solution Documents, presentations.
• Develop and present internal and/or external knowledge transfer sessions explaining architecture, capabilities, limitations, advantages for technologies, etc from the standpoint of pre-sales and Business Development.
• Engage with target customers, assess their needs/requirements and work with the Accounts and SE team to develop a solution offering best suited for Cienas customer needs.
Requirements:
• Hands-on experience in Layer-2 & Layer-3 technologies such as L3VPN, EVPN, VPWS, VPLS SR-TE, ISIS-SR/LDP, BGP/IGP, G.8032, MPLS, QinQ, Synch E, MEF 2.0 services etc
• Hands-on experience in NMS/SDN for Layer-2 & Layer-3 like service management, FCAPS etc.
• Hands-on experience in automation with Open APIs (such as REST-API, WebSocket, T-API, NETCONF & gRPC/gNMI) using python scripting, third party tools and postman
• Hands-on experience in Linux Operating Systems, Docker and Container-based deployment
• Exposure to Microservice Architecture based platforms and REST-based APIs
• Knowledge of Core/Metro Transport, Core/Metro Switching, Ethernet Transport/Switching and Packet Optical Networking
• Database knowledge (Cassandra, MySQL), experience with messaging services (Kafka), experience with Monitoring Technologies (Nagios, Grafana)
• Knowledge of Web Sockets, Authentication, Web Security
• Highly self-motivated team player with the ability to collaborate and interact with cross-functional organizations both within Ciena, our customers and with our partners
• Successful practical problem solving, good written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors degree in Electronics/Communication Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with a particular focus on System/Sales Engineering operations.
• Detailed Working knowledge of Ciena Management solutions will be a strong asset
