Job Description

About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionFinancial Planning & Analysis team is responsible for providing financial analysis, information, forecasting and insight to senior leaders within, Technology, Operations, Investment Management and Corporate functions, as well as to the FIL board and the Global Operating Committee as a whole. The team is also responsible for corporate KPI and revenue, sales and assets reporting and for maintaining all revenue sales, assets and management accounts data globally.Purpose of the RoleThis role will be responsible for leading a team that will help various stakeholders understand and draw conclusions from data and develop insights that assist in optimising opportunities and drive the business forward. He/she will be responsible for delivering high quality business insights into markets and competitors as well as deliver analytic insights in various business domains including ISS, WPFH, Corporate enabler, Enterprise Performance etc. This role will work closely with business operations, finance and business leadership to achieve business objectives and communicate insights to key stakeholders. This role will aim at recognizing and adapting best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, analysis, validation, and documentation; This role will ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes and procedures for employees to follow. They will use advanced data modeling, predictive modeling and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support business outcomes. This role will be expected to apply their exhaustive knowledge of data analysis to solving real-world problems faced by our company and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams and business units.Key ResponsibilitiesThe roles and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities.
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics support that support key business decisions.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze business functions and key operations and performance metrics.
  • Recruit, train, develop and supervise analyst-level employees.
  • Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining and engineering as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables.
  • Examine, interpret and report results of analytical initiatives to stakeholders in leadership, technology, sales, marketing and product teams.
  • Oversee the data/report requests process: tracking requests submitted, prioritization, approval, etc.
  • Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within your department and design/implement solutions to meet these needs.
  • Organize and drive successful completion of data insight initiatives through effective management of analyst and data employees and effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to stakeholders within and outside of the company.
  • Develop in-depth business, analytical, and systems knowledge to improve/build analytical solutions, approaches and business recommendations.
  • With a combination of analytical expertise, data and system knowledge and business insight, answer and anticipate critical business questions and opportunities and deliver insights to the business in ways that make significant impacts.
  • Demonstrating data visualization (Power BI, Tableau, Excel), and analytic tools (R, SAS, JMP, Python, Spark) to grasp the business insights from our mountain of data
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams (Business, Finance, Marketing, IT, Sales)
  • Seeks out alternative/creative ways of meeting an information need, considering new techniques to address business challenges
  • Build analytic capabilities to grow organization s knowledge.
Experience and Qualifications RequiredTechnical
  • Background - 8-10 years of work experience in asset manangement industry with strong knowledge of markets and financial Services sector
  • 5 experience in data science or business analytics, big data, machine learning; preferably with people leadership and development experience in the Financial Services sector
  • 3-5 years of experience working with data analysis tools (R or Python) and techniques (machine learning, statistical analysis, data mining) an advantage
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills coupled with strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills
  • Ability to use data and metrics to test hypothesis, confirm assumptions, generate insights/recommendations, and measure success
  • Can partner across a wide array of internal business groups, executive stakeholders and execution partners with ability to build solid relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract business insights from large datasets and use them to drive business change.
  • Self-starter with a strong passion for using data to influence business decisions and strategy investments.
  • Proven impact and influence skills - ability to work broadly across disparate groups to gain agreement on direction, integrate disparate opinions into cohesive strategy/message and present/defend recommendations.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate uncertain situations to drive for clarity; work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-speed environment
EducationBachelor s or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required. MBA PreferredExperience
  • Experience of business finance roles and/or partnering internal clients would be an advantage.
  • Able to command respect from stakeholders and peers, comfortable playing a part in management discussions.
