About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionThe UK Retail Group is charged with the development and operating model for Fidelity s Wrap platforms for the Personal Investing business and FundsNetwork, including implementation of new tax wrappers, web front end and service layer, interfaces, document composition and production, STP/automation and migrations from legacy systems. Our objective is to be the supplier of choice for all IP services to our businesses as well as having the clear mandate to identify the future opportunities that will maintain and extend Fidelity s lead in online financial services.The department is currently expanding to satisfy the high level of demand for both short term tactical project delivery and the execution of a programme of strategic development which will see the complete reshaping of our platform capability and customer experience through the replacement and enhancement of our existing platform capability which supports our growing direct and intermediated businesses in the regionPurpose of the RoleDefine, refine and design the architecture as per the roadmap estanlished for the department. Work with business and IT stakeholders to support a future-state vision in terms of requirements, principles and models in a specific technology, process or function.Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate shall be expected to be work as an application architect in this department. He/she would be required to provide technical leadership and oversight over breadth of technologies and applications; engaging with business and implementation (BA, Dev, QA, performance testers etc) team stakeholders to arrive at a solution with highest standards of quality and responsiveness ensuring extremely high quality and timely deliveries to business.Experience and Qualifications Required
• Seasoned IT software delivery professional with an experience of 15 years of hands on development and application architecture.
• The candidate will be expected to create, sell, and drive Architectural vision for the organisation to ensure the organization is headed towards a technically efficient, simplified and capable landscape.
• Expert at following technology sets -
  • Must have experience in architecting & development of applications on cloud infrastructure using different AWS services (or other public cloud like IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of cloud first principles.
  • Experienced with different forms of architectures like SOA, Microservices, EDA .
  • Responsive Web applications, Web Services and batch applications development
  • Application development tools and frameworks like maven, ant, check style, PMD, fortify, junit, SONAR, SOAP UI, REST Assured etc.
  • Hands on with Java/J2EE design patterns.
  • Hands on with Enterprise Integration Patterns
• The candidate should be able to define the technology roadmap for the org/function.
• The candidate will be expected to envision design for complex functional and technical problems while incrementally evolving the implementation in simple progressive steps of deliveries.
• Experience with designing security for applications - authentication and authorization, method level security.
• Should be an expert craftsman on test first model of Test Driven Development (TDD) and guide/coach/mentor implementation team.
• Expert at putting in continuous integration and build/release automation practices. Experience on atleast one build server like Bamboo, Teamcity, Jenkins etc
• Experience with performance engineering and application performance tuning
• Experience with advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning methods for Java / web based ecosystems like container tuning, memory/thread analysis, SQL tuning etc
