Job Description

Expedia Software Dev Engineer IIDo you love building intelligent, configurable systems using diverse set of state-of-the-art technologies Are you interested in building a real-time detection platform that can manage EG Security related requirements at scale Want to join a team that has a great reputation for addressing issues with Cybersercurity The EG Security team in Expedia helps secure the company by providing solutions majorly for Cybersecurity Incident detection and response (i.e. Cyber attacks), Security Vulnerability Management and Security Compliance. The team has developed an in-house monitoring and Big Data processing platform (based on AWS EMR and AWS Data pipelines infrastructure) that is the backbone for Cybersecurity Incident handling and is capable of processing 6 Billion security events per day.We are looking for a Software Development Engineer for our Platform Services engineering team, who can help us build technology solutions that improve our ability to detect and prevent EG Cybersecurity related issues. Our team delivers integrated software solutions that screen EG wide secure and other relevant logs globally across all Expedia brands. You will build highly available systems that scale to hundreds of millions of such log events and smart techniques to detect and mitigate Security world-wide. You will be an important part of a growing team using the latest technology to protect our business, our customers, our business partners, and improve our customer experience, empowering the whole EG Security pillar.What you ll do:

  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to solve complex problems
  • Design and Develop scalable, low-latency services and solutions
  • Create resilient, fault tolerant, highly available systems
  • Have a strong eye for the operational aspects of the platform like monitoring and alarming.
  • Influence engineering best practices within your POD and across the Platform team
Who are you:
  • Have a degree in software engineering, computer science, informatics or a similar field.
  • 2 years of experience in software development (SDLC) preferably on SOA
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java preferably, Scala, Python etc.) and exposure to RBDMS/NoSQL solutions
  • Strong object oriented programming concepts and background in data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit, functional, integration & performance/load testing
  • Experience of using cloud services (e.g. AWS)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative and fast paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Security tools/applications is a plus
  • Experience with eCommerce and travel industry is a plus
