Job Description

    Do you want to fundamentally change the way India exports Do you want your work to have a significant impact on the lives of tens of thousands of MSMEs in India who sell across Amazon s worldwide marketplaces Does solving complex problems excite you Amazon s Global Trade program has enabled 1,00,000 Indian exporters to cross $5 billion in cumulative exports from India that showcase crores of Made in India products today to customers across the world. The program requires an experienced Sr. Policy Program Manager to work within the Amazon Global Trade export enablement and marketing team, helping to build and execute impactful policy and partnerships programs.With this role, you will join a fast growing team that looks at the big picture of the overall e-commerce exports ecosystem and drives policy and marketing efforts to make Indian sellers succeed globally. This is a unique leadership role where you would be leading a multi-stakeholder team in articulating and influencing policies for e-commerce exports and to develop strategic partnerships and alliances across state governments, national and state level trade bodies, and key industry players such as banking, compliance, VCs, educational institutions, etc. To succeed in this role, the policy and partnership program leader would require a deep understanding of the end-to-end regulatory environment for exports and the nuances of B2C ecommerce exports, which is an evolving area. The leader would need to create vision alignment, value sell Amazon export programs, and articulate e-commerce export priorities that align with government priorities to affect policy changes across both central and state departments/ministries. The leader would need to nurture relationships with e-commerce exports ecosystem industry players and collaborate with them to provide innovative solutions to help MSMEs scale their exports businesses. Internally, the leader would need to collaborate with leaders from Sales, Product, Public Policy, Tax, Legal and Public Relations to ensure strategic objectives of program are met.Key job responsibilities Develop and lead a proactive public policy outreach program working in conjunction with public policy team that earn the goodwill of governments, regulators, and sellers through direct policy-maker and other stakeholder engagement and partnerships Build partnerships with central, state governments, export promotion councils, trade associations and other organizations to drive joint goals of seller recruitment and get alignment on policy advocacy and coalition building Act as point person for maintaining relationships with legislative and regulatory audiences and for building other third party allies to represent e-commerce export areas Prepare submissions to regulatory reviews and engage in consultations Advance multilateral advocacy opportunities UN, USTR, embassies, global trade bodies, to drive global thought leadership Monitor the regulatory, legislative, and political horizon for relevant regulatory changes and provide internal communications and briefings Work with internal stakeholders and experts to determine potential opportunities and regulatory issues arising from such changes that may impact the programs, products, and sellers Provide media talking points and coordinate with marketing and public relations for thought leadership Draft responses to public consultation papers, position papers and speaking notes for representation in conferences, panels, round tables etc.,
    • 5+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
    • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
    • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)
    • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs
    • Experience communicating results to stakeholders
    • 10+ years of demonstrated capacity to build and execute public policy programs that support business growth within a dynamic and changing corporation
    • Keen understanding of the processes of the Indian legislative and political process and an ability to analyze the impact of legislations on business and develop strategies to move interests forward
    • Proven success in balancing multiple initiatives in a high-pressure situations in dynamic policy and commercial environments
    • Strong analytical approach to problem solving, ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
    • Ability to manage and drive complex projects, and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity
    • Experience in technology sector a plus
    • Exhibit exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as a foundation for building and maintaining strong relationships across external and internal stakeholders
    • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
    • Genuine interest in public policy, current events and the political environment
    • Willing to travel both within India, and as necessary globally
