Job Description

Functional CompentenciesAccountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses.Have a thorough knowledge of credit-related laws.Be willing to periodically travel to customer sites.Have considerable experience with customer negotiations.Works in a fast-paced office environment.Expected to travel to customer locations on short notice to conduct negotiations.Occasional overtime may be necessary.Behavioural CompentenciesJudgment and Decision MakingEye for detail and identification of early warning signals.Should have strong quantitative skills.Leadership and team development skills.Teamwork & Strong communication skillsNon Financial ResponsibilitiesManage a region for credit underwriting with the help of Credit ManagersMaintain a department organizational structure sufficient to meet all goals and objectivesProperly motivate the credit and collections staffTo train the Credit Managers adequately to perform their tasksShould possess a good understanding of SME space and business cycles. Should have good analytical skillsRecommend changes in the credit policy to senior management, if requiredCreate a credit scoring model after analyzing the segmentManage customer credit filesShould travel extensively to various locations being managed by him/her. Should travel for a minimum of 10 working days in a month.Should ensure all important clients across his regions is met up personally.Monitor the credit granting and updating processPersonally investigate the largest customer credit applicationsMonitor periodic credit reviewsTo pass on good practices and learnings of various locations managed, across the regionRecommend changed to the Product team on the basis of on ground credit underwriting experienceMeasure department performance with appropriate metricsTo ensure delinquency levels are totally in control and in line with the budgetManage relations with collection agencies. To personally get involved in collections, if required.Manage relations with credit reporting agenciesManage relations with credit insurance providersManage relations with the sales departmentShould have a good network in the credit fraternity to be updated on latest industry trends and risksMaintain the corporate credit policy
