Job Description

    The Spatial Data Development (SDD) Group at RMS India is responsible for the development of high-quality geospatial databases of building inventory and exposure. These databases are consumed by RMS catastrophe risk models or licensed directly by RMS clients. These databases are developed using spatial modeling, remote sensing, and other advanced geospatial and mapping technologies. Customized geospatial applications are also developed by the group for efficient process automation and productivity gains.SDD consists of approximately 14 GIS specialists with backgrounds in geology, geoinformatics, remote sensing, water resources, civil and computer engineering. The department has a dynamic working environment with clear scientific and technological atmosphere and encourages innovations.Objective of the GIS Consultant:Responsible for the development of geospatial layers required in developing the various hazard model. Maintain and deliver the geospatial data and data components with highest quality for RMS products.Key Accountabilities & Deliverables:
    • Overall responsible to develop geo-spatial data as part of developing models for various perils like earthquake, flood, wind, surge, and man-made catastrophe
    • Accountable to develop method/technique to assess the quality of geospatial datasets
    • Involve in applying geospatial, remote sensing and other supportive domain knowledge in deriving additional data sources for cat model and exposure development.
    Experience Required:
    • Graduate in Civil/ Computer Science/ Electronics Engineering or post graduate in Geology and Geophysics.
    • Around one year of experience in GIS analysis and geospatial data development.
    • Knowledge in image processing is desirable.
    • Proficiency in ESRI products and especially the usage of spatial analyst extension.
    • Exposure in any of the programming languages will be added advantage.
    • Good Knowledge of MS SQL, MS Access and in writing macros with MS Excel is desirable.
