Job Description

    Model Development, India Department: SMG- Climate, Model DevelopmentOverview of the RoleWe are looking for a Modeller to join our Carbon Emission Risk team. Our team develops methodologies and data products that are used across Moody s and are a critical part of our offering to clients. The Climate Transition Risk Senior Modeller will work closely with teams across RMS and Moody s Analytics to deliver high-quality data and products to help the financial and insurance sectors model and assess climate transition risks. The Senior Modeller will be encouraged to own some of our products, from conception R&D to stakeholder discussions and delivery.Key Responsibilities
    • Work in a cross-functional environment, leading ad-hoc data analysis to benefit RMS and Moody s Analytics various carbon emission risk efforts.
    • Conduct thorough analysis and research of climate-related risks and opportunities across the banking, insurance, and equities landscapes.
    • Monitor and report on emerging climate-related regulations and developments, as well as technological developments (e.g. AI, NLP, databases).
    • Development and maintenance of data products across our transition risk offerings.
    • Closely follow industry best-practices both in terms of Data Science and ESG.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • A Master s degree or similar in a relevant subject such as economics, environmental science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
    • 4 years of relevant experience.
    • Programming and Data Science experience in python or R.
    • Excellent time management and planning skills with a commitment to delivery.
    • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with climate-related standards and frameworks, such as TCFD, CDP or SBTi.
    • Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Data engineering experience, in particular working with API and SQL databases.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and accountability.
    • Experience and confidence to work directly with both internal and external stakeholders
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with modern systems of scientific repeatability and engineering scalability (e.g. GitHub).
    • Experience working on large and complex datasets.
    • Familiarity with NGFS scenarios or other Integrated Assessment Models would be an asset.
    • Excellent working knowledge of statistics and data science.
    • Established expertise in a technical aspect relevant to climate transition risk and ESG would be highly appreciated (e.g. Natural Language Processing, macro-economic modelling, carbon finance and accounting)
