Job Description

    • Enable the >1 billion windows users to leverage the full array of Microsoft value available across our product offerings
    • Grow the windows user base by delivering new, innovative and attractive form factors that will make Microsoft customers more productive than ever before
    • Deliver Windows services that allow our customers to find and leverage their Microsoft value across all their productivity devices
    The Windows team is growing a Centre of Excellence in Microsoft, Hyderabad to embark on the journey to own and drive transformation of our experiences on Windows to be simple, delightful, and new. User interacting surface areas of anything which ships with Windows is in the purview of this team!We are looking for a proven senior Engineering Leader to join our growing team. You will get to lead a team of engineering managers and engineers and partner with Windows teams across the globe to build, use and deploy various cutting-edge technologies in this space. You will own the engineering strategy, schedule and accountabilities for delivering key pieces of Windows and our Services for both our new and existing products. Some examples include.
    • New Windows experiences on emerging first-party (Surface) and third-party devices that create differentiated value and maximize the user experience and revenue or business opportunities of the devices.
    • Establish Microsoft services (like Microsoft Accounts and Family management) as a key corporate differentiator, establishing a level of trust with our customers which is unparalleled by our competitors
    • Be a steward for Windows, turning experiences that dissatisfy our customers into value that win their loyalty
    • Strategic leadership: Develop a cohesive charter integrating the multiple pieces of Windows experience technologies that you are accountable for. Demonstrate thought leadership and curiosity to ensure the technologies you own are contributing to achieving the key Windows Experience business and health goals (as measured by key metrics).
    • Influence and align the product vision by collaborating with customers, partners, product management and engineering teams
    • Planning and Execution: Ability to think holistically and strategically. Leverage understanding of engineering rhythm so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and decision making happens at the right levels on the team. Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex technical products.
    • Coordination and Collaboration: The work you own is part of a larger collection of value requiring deep partnering and collaboration with the other Group Engineering Managers to ensure strategic objectives are met. You have a proven ability to work closely with others to achieve a common end, and to influence those across the management spectrum.
    • Communication: Able to conduct insightful, multi-faceted conversations with senior business and technical decision makers inside and outside Microsoft. Conceptualize complex ideas quickly and convey those thoughts to others in a clear, and effective manner.
    • Cultural Leadership: Proven ability to lead cultural initiatives, having positive impact on team morale and fostering an environment of inclusion. Create a team culture of engineering excellence, customer passion, collaboration, diversity and inclusion. And of course, having fun too!

    • Managing a team of high-calibre Engineering Managers and Engineers, ensuring project and development excellence and technical leadership. Deliver high quality results with full ownership and take the owned product areas to next level. Hire and develop the best managers and engineers
    ,
    • A BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
    • 15+ years of total experience engineering, designing, building and shipping software at scale
    • 5+ years of team leadership and people management including managing managers
    • Track record of building and leading high functioning teams, including recruiting and retaining diverse talent base
    • Proven competency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communications
    • Experience building software products with diverse engineering teams and stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated expertise coding in C, C++, Java, or C#
    • Strong project management and people management skills
    • Working in agile teams with strong customer focus
    • Experience working on cross platform applications or services used at scale
    • Good design, coding, debugging, teamwork, partnership, and communication skills
    • Experience with cross group design and coordination is an advantage.
    • You must be self-driven, curious to learn, proactive, and result-oriented.
