Job Description

Job TypePermanentIdeas change the world. Help us change the way the world manages them.PurposeAs part of IP Legal structure, this role will be a member of the IP Law Legal Research team. As a Senior Analyst IP Legal Services , this self-motivated individual will be a member of the team responsible for the IP Law content across all the products and services in CPA Global by maintaining expertise in and researching current and historical jurisdiction laws and docketing practices, including statutory actions/formalities and due dates required to obtain and maintain Intellectual Property rights in different jurisdictions around the world over the lifetime of a matter. The team will execute against IP Law strategies by driving the identification, research, acquisition and validation of intellectual property laws. They will also collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers and 3rd parties, including patent and trademark offices and agents, to maximize a core value of the business.Additionally, this team member will utilize their expertise in jurisdictional laws and docketing best practices to assist in the implementation and release of these statutory due dates in the portfolio management systems periodic law updates.Main Accountabilities:Legal Research:

  • Proactively monitor global IP law changes that affect the business and publish internal instructions to CPA Global s software, renewal systems and business processing teams
  • Utilize resources, such as Kluwer, legal publications, 3rd party agencies, law firms and official patent and trademark offices to identify and determine the legislative changes and to audit current country/region law repositories
  • Provide enhanced laws support in form of preparing and maintaining a dictionary of IP events and deadlines; create work-flows explaining complex IP procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and resolve business impacts with jurisdiction law changes; provide Tier 3 expert support on IP Law to internal customers, including IP Legal, Renewal Operations, Product and Development
  • Ensure rules content accuracy, timeliness and completeness are maintained as per company standards and tracking tools, such as Salesforce and proprietary law knowledge base
  • Provide support on Legal Research projects and process maintenance activities
Law Implementation:
  • Draft implementation requirements and implement identified configuration changes according to defined process and best practices.

  • Participate in the QA review of implementation requirements drafted by peers.
  • Enhance or amend existing configuration pertaining to assigned internal projects or client queries.
  • Analyze changes produced when applying law update release candidates against fictional client data identifying potential issues or anomalies.
  • Assist with the compilation and publication of release documents.
  • Ensure compliance with CPA Global s Code of Business Ethics and Corporate
Key Skills and Experience
  • Post-graduate degree in Law
  • Experience in the Intellectual Property Industry with familiarity of IP docketing procedures and working experience in a Portfolio Management system a plus
  • Strong investigative, analytical & deductive skills
  • Detail oriented, someone who pays attention to the details and can make a conscious effort to understand causes instead of just the effects
  • Ability to accurately interpret, explain and translate complex IP laws
  • Keen sensitivity to urgent deadlines
  • Excellent written and, verbal and face-to-face communication skills. Ability to engage effectively on a global basis across various cultural and language barriers.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with proven ability to drive for results, take initiatives, and work toward established goals
  • Solution Oriented, having the drive for getting the solution to a given problem while looking at the bigger picture.
  • Quick learner with the ability to multi-task, and balance priorities and shifting deadlines
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills
