In addition the Team Lead is expected to be in office in a timely manner to manage any start of day issues such as system failures, and unresolved issues from the previous day. It s critical that the Team Lead is also in office for end of day in order to 1) double check and sign off all EOD processes 2) take the lead on any EOD issues to resolve and escalate effectively 3) call NYK IBMO to ensure smooth handover and answer any queries before leaving the office.
  • The Team Lead is expected to have SME knowledge in every control and process and is also required to provide input to Global FX Head with NGI s (new growth initiatives), process development work, NAPA s etc.
  • Key to the role is to understand the products we trade and incorporate in our controls and also 1) why we perform our controls, 2) the risk involved and 3) adding value to ensure we re working to be continually smarter in how we perform them.
  • The Team Lead is expected to perform some daily BAU tasks daily to stay fresh with processes and controls. By performing BAU daily, the Team Lead should then provide a platform to the junior team for any personal development and training either online or through Markets Academy. The Team Lead should actively encourage personal development by taking on BAU so that team members have the opportunity to rise, in line with the Bank s Purpose. Suggesting courses for learning and also spending time with team members daily to constantly review processes to spot control gaps or smarter ways of performing them.
  • The Team lead should not just understand our controls at a product level, but should understand them at a process level, i.e. the end to end and work with regional peers to align these processes globally so that we re serving our internal clients in a structured, consistent and simplified manner.
  • Maintaining, understanding and enhancing our controls in order to mitigate Operational risk and help to meet our regulatory requirements is paramount to this role. Understanding the control environment we work in and the risks associated with not performing our responsibilities with the utmost diligence. The Team Lead should take responsibility for resolving all BAU issues.
  • Understanding the roles, requirements of our clients both internal and external is critical. IBMO works alongside numerous different functional areas and we cannot operate in an IBMO silo, we need to understand what our clients needs are and ensure we operate in the right way to best serve them. Some examples of internal clients IBMO work with are TCU, Trading, PCG, Settlements, Confirmations and peers within IBMO in other asset classes.
  • The Team Lead should work with Global head FX IBMO to ensure our costs are as lean as possible, trying to spot opportunities and suggest ways where we can automate, streamline and deliver cost saving to the IBMO budget where possible.

Different forms of communication (email, call, face to face, meetings, conference calls) should be used to partner with different functional teams to ensure we are collectively working to leave things in a better state than we found them and also bringing knowledge back to the IBMO team and the Team Lead should lead the training on this too.
