DB2 LUW DBA Senior Administrator

Job Description

5 to 7 years of experience in managing different DB technologies with mandatory DB2 LUW /DB2 UDB. Install and configure new IBM DB2 databases (Standalone /HACMP cluster installation / HADR with TSAMP). Must have expertise working with DB2 databases configured with HADR and automated by TSAMP.. Knowledge of different versions of DB2 starting from DB2 V9.7 to V 11.5 . Take ownership of the IBM DB2 support availability.. Must be able to install fixpacks for DB2 databases configured for HADR, managed by TSAMP. Avoid escalations and act swiftly for critical issues in production environment, ensure 0% downtime globally. Troubleshoot DB2 LUW databases, service outages as they occur including after-hours and weekends support. Capable to create /Alter database objects like procedures/triggers/views/tables etc. Provide management with data growth projections for DB2. Working knowledge of DB2 instances and databases on Aix HACMP clusters. Knowledge of Performance tuning techniques for DB2 UDB databases. When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including server configuration changes, or index/query changes. Plan proactive maintenance activities in production and co-ordinate with business and other stakeholders for proposed outages during maintenance in production. Designing automated maintenance plans or CRON jobs in Production, Quality and Staging environments for DB2 UDB. Develop shell scripts whenever required for DB2 UDB servers. Contact IBM and raise PMR s for most critical and repetitive issues. Participate in plans for production deployments. The tasks include contribution in designing deployment instructions. Selection of appropriate resource to deliver results. Provide time statistics considering Metrix from QA environments. Knowledge to use db2 Monitoring tools such as DB2PD, Snapshot, Event monitoring, Health Center, Activity Monitor, and Event Analyzer. Capable to perform migrations of existing DB environment to higher level as and when required. Capable to recover DB instances and databases with point in time recovery. Have knowledge to disaster recovery modules and should be capable to implement and maintain such modules. Configure and troubleshoot Netbackup configuration for all DB2 databases.. Ability to organize and plan work independently. Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and projects.
