Job Description

    • Eaton s Research Labs (ERL) is a global research team and has an exciting and rewarding position for a Power Electronics Engineer seeking a challenging career in Electrification domain. This position enables the person hired to develop new technologies, improve existing products, acquire internal and external funding, lead discussions with customer technology leaders, present ideas and projects to Eaton business leaders and ERL leadership. A good blend of technical knowledge and business acumen is desired to be successful in this role. The selected candidate will be working with engineering teams located at EIIC Pune and collaborate with different teams and businesses at various locations.
    • We are looking for a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to develop digital autonomous product design tools for design of power electronics products for electrification applications.
    • Lead the development of digital engineering approach development to accelerate the design of power electronics systems such as Inverters, DC-DC convertors, On board chargers
    • Digital engineering approach with need in developing methods to accelerate pre-ECAD steps helping reduce the most commonly recurring reasons for design iterations along with post-ECAD steps to develop rule-based assessment for thermal (board level), assembly, electrical and manufacturing issues and their mitigation using intelligence driven solutions
    • Reduced order models development for thermal assessment at PCB scale
    • Work with extended team to automate and integrate different developed solution so as to make them work in a seamless digital thread
    • You will leverage your expertise in power electronics system design architecture development, schematic design, PCB design with EMI/EMC, thermal and vibration effects to build design automation approach.
    • You will work on developing innovative power electronics architecture and control solutions for vehicle electrification
    • Experience working with tools like Altium 360 is preferred. Exposure to different detailed analysis steps such as Signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, vibration, reliability, stress is an added plus.
    • Work with suppliers to build the prototypes and test the solution in lab
    • Lead the technology development projects and guide teams (local and remote resources) and external technology resources (External labs/University researchers).
    • Identify and develop commercialization solutions with substantial growth potential for Eaton s businesses, and provide advisory services to business partners
    • Actively participate in strategic planning and development of Eaton product/service offerings and support New Product/Technology Introductions concurrent with Eaton business needs.
    • Provide mentoring and help develop/train less experienced staff in a working environment.
    • Participate in brainstorming and design bursts contributing to the technology strategy.
    • Support building business unit relationships by presenting ideas and projects, contributing to the development of compelling value propositions for technology work and acquiring resources and funding needed to ensure success.
    • Develop yourself as a subject matter expert both internally and externally to Eaton; attend conferences, seminars and/or consortium meetings in relevant industry to network with technical peers and stay relevant in their fields.
    QualificationsRequirement:
    • Master s Degree Or Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronics/Systems/Controls Engineering / or equivalent technical field from accredited institutions.
    • Master s Degree (5-8 years) or Ph.D. (3-5 years) experience
    • Extensive experience in power electronics system architecture and control design for applications like low and medium voltage power conversion, medium voltage motor drive technology, drive/converter topologies, high-power electronics; electric machines and controls; electrification of vehicles, energy storage, and grid connected converters; including creating specifications, defining application space, designing technical solution concepts, and building and testing prototypes to validate models/hypotheses and documenting results.
    • Hands on experience in converting the schematics to PCB with due considerations for EMI/EMC, thermals and vibrations.
    • Hands on experience in hardware prototyping and testing
    • Strong knowledge of simulations and design tools.
    • Experience in leading projects with multiple stakeholders in matrix organization and strong project management experience is required.
