Job Description

As a member of the Johnson Controls Building Technologies & Solutions Business Unit, this person will be part of an engineering team that develops electronic systems, controls and sensors for Buildings. Responsible for documenting new designs and making design documentation changes. These products are used on a breath of products found in buildings that serve to command, control and monitor HVAC, Security and Fire Detection systems and equipment. This work will focus on PCBA board level component selection, design, rationalization and sustaining efforts. Person will understand documentation best practices and possess the capability to manage changes and guide others through documentation completion.

  • Develops documentation structure for new products based upon best practices, internal engineering methods and manufacturing conventions.
  • Participates as a member of a cross functional project team to ensure all engineering, manufacturing and product documentation is developed and updated in accordance with the project scope. Ensure work is completed to schedule at acceptable quality levels.
  • Leverages best practices of the electronic documentation management system (Windchill PLM) to meet the needs of engineering, procurement and manufacturing.
  • Develops documentation change plans and manages all tasks through completion.
  • Lead other documentation support personnel on documentation tasks.
  • Revises drawings and prepares change orders, investigates change requests, resolves shop problems, and work with engineers to propose redesigns to improve performance or reduce costs.
  • Update printed circuit board schematics and board designs using Mentor Graphics DxDesigner and Expedition.
  • Make necessary calculations to establish acceptable standards of performance, selection of materials, hardware, and type of construction.
  • Works with engineers to assure that design features, and performance conform to functional and manufacturing requirements.
  • Investigate & resolve documentation concerns of released products. Update documentation based upon guidance of others.
