The candidate will undergo extensive training to learn about twin-screw extrusion, injection molding and other conversion methods. They will establish the processing conditions for new grades by employing scientific and statistical techniques. Finally, the candidate will be supporting scale-up activities and customer trials, when necessary. The ideal candidate will always have yearn for learning and continuous development, and will not shy away from hands-on work on the processing floor.Essential Functions:
• Establish extrusion and injection molding conditions for new formulations and Avient products
• Participate in scale up, testing plan and procedure, data analysis, and communication of results
• Document and prepare product specifications for Avient products
• Develop technical specifications for established Avient products
• Collaborate in resolution of and problem solving when issues arise
• Conduct work in safe, ethical and respectful manner

• Masters / Bachelors of Science or Technology in Polymer Science / Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• 1 - 3 years of industrial / academic experience in polymer compound development and processing
• Strong fundamental knowledge of polymer characteristics and polymer structure property relationships
• Strong understanding of the scientific method and statistics for data-driven research
• Good knowledge of material characterization techniques for rheological, mechanical and, thermal properties of polymers
• Fundamental knowledge of polymer processes including compounding with twin screw extruders and injection molding
• Demonstrated ability to work safely in the laboratory and plant settings
• Mechanical aptitude and a positive attitude or eagerness for hands-on work

• Excellent project management and organizational skills required to develop detailed project timelines with key milestones and deliverables
• The candidate must be collaborative and work effectively across cross-functional teams to drive projects from lab-to-commercial scale
