Senior Principal Software EngineerPosting Location : Location BostonPosting date 3 days ago(1/5/2021 9:34 AM)Job ID 79572 Category Software Engineering Job summary The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will focus on network observability for our Red Hat OpenShift platform. You ll be a part of an early stage team that will be focused on building kubernetes network visualization, control and management layer for OpenShift Networking (SDN). This is an exciting opportunity to visualize and tool areas like flow control, routing, capacity management, overlay networking, and traffic management. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business. Primary job responsibilities

  • Help in design of technical solutions to abstract problems
  • Participate and lead a scrum team focused on SDN technologies
  • Participate in, lead, and create upstream networking project communities, including contributing new development work and existing features and fixes for projects
  • Work with cross functional teams globally both internally and externally
  • Collaborate with other engineers and leads in Red Hat engineering globally to utilize each others work and efforts

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN)
  • Solid leadership skills, experience with managing complex, cross-functional projects, and building project teams
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration tools like Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to work well as part of a diverse team in a highly collaborative environment
  • Motivated with a proactive attitude; willingness to tackle new problems and ability to develop new architectures and identify good ones
  • 10 years of development experience
  • Experience with extensive testing via CI (Continuous Integration)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
The following would be considered a plus:
  • Familiar with networking, overlay networking, and the diagnostics and management thereof; deep knowledge of network operations; experience working at a large network operator
  • Experience of implementing, maintaining, or operating network monitoring systems (e.g. Nagios) and technology (e.g. NetFlow)
  • Experience working in open source development models or communities
  • Development experience with Golang
