Build your career with us and apply today.Job Description Middleware Engineer Lead will be responsible for sustaining web technology platforms that are utilized by Business Units across Northern Trust. The role will be responsible for providing technical leadership on an engineering team that offers web technology capabilities to internal clients and partners. The core function of the team is to provide middleware services on application projects, deploy applications according to established standards and provide L3 escalation engagement on production issues.Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and support technology platforms on traditional on-premise, private and public cloud.
  • Onboard and support workloads on container platforms.
  • Enforce technology standards and ensure compliance Eg: documentation, monitoring, logging, capacity management, disaster recovery.
  • Manage technology platforms products lifecycle - patches and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems on technology platforms.
  • Enhance technology stack by building new capabilities and automation.
  • Provide technology guidance to Business Units. Engage on application projects and fulfill middleware infrastructure responsibilities which include environment provisioning, functional and load test support, performance tuning and validation of standards compliance.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure teams to facilitate lifecycle activities on network, OS, database and messaging systems.
  • Participate in team s on-call rotation for L3 support.
Required technical skill set:
  • Strong fundamentals of Linux OS
  • Protocols: TCP, HTTP, SOAP, REST, SSL
  • Web Servers: Apache, Nginx, HAProxy
  • Application Servers: Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere
  • Security: LDAP, Access Manager
  • Languages: Scripting, Ansible, Python
  • Git repo utilization
  • Web Application build and deployment ant, maven
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Java/JEE, Webservices and associated frameworks such as Spring
  • Docker and Kubernetes
