Job Description

nullMechanical DesignerLocation - Bangalore / PuneYou are a part ofA high-impact, global organization within Philips that works across all modalities The Supplier Transfer Excellence Team (STET). STET has been established as an entrepreneurial organization that focuses on fast-paced, high-quality portfolio transfers within the Philips global supply base to mitigate risk & maximize profitability.In this role, you have the opportunity toBe responsible for driving meaningful and innovative product development, generating ideas/concepts in feature development to improve quality and reduce cost, as well as performing the role of a technical lead in taking the product development through manufacturing release while transferring products between suppliers.You are responsible for

  • As needed lead the mechanical development and release of electro-mechanical modules or reverse engineer existing products to improve overall long term system quality, reliability, yield rates, and cost effectiveness.
  • Work with design partners/suppliers and lead product development activities from design concept to manufacturing release.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to ensure the mechanical designs meet the needs of the internal and external customers.
  • Use SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical architectures, 3D designs, and 2D drawings.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects related to design implementation, manufacturing process, product quality and reliability.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
  • Strong communication and collaborative abilities, proactively seeks out expertise and advice and input from others in a collaborative team-environment.
  • Specific knowledge in part design of plastics parts and SPI standards for plastic design.
  • Expertise in working with plastic tool makers and injection molders to ensure design meet all DFM requirements.
  • Knowledge in part qualification and statistical process studies such as CP and CPK and be able to work with suppliers to improve part process capability.
  • Ability to troubleshoot plastic part cosmetic issues such as sink marks, witness lines and work with suppliers to improve part design.
  • In-depth Mechanical Engineering design and analysis skills including demonstrated capability in thermal and structural analysis.
  • Knowledge in datum schemes, tolerance analysis and GD&T.
  • Capable of evaluating design margins, tolerances, and reliability factors including, wear, materials strength, chemical compatibility, and compounding environmental effects.
  • Experience working with suppliers and design partners, including part/module development and resolving technical issues.
  • Highly proficient in CAD, specific experience and proficiency in SolidWorks required.
  • Strong technical writing/ documentation skills for regulated medical device design environment, including requirements definition.
  • Knowledge of good design practices and experienced with DFMEA.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the design meets their expectations and needs, and that the needs/requirements are properly documented.
  • Experience with document control systems (E-Matrix, Agile) and FDA/ISO regulated medical device design environment.
  • BSME or MSME from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years of experience in an engineering environment required, preferably in product development.
