Job Description

    We have an exciting opportunity for those who are strategically minded, operationally inclined, and like to get your hands dirty , in helping to incubate a new business. As a Director of Business Operations - New Business Incubation, you will work under the guidance and direction of a Toptal Executive leader to help rapidly launch a new business and build replicable frameworks for additional potential new opportunities in the future. This role will provide for future leadership opportunities in the new organization post-launch to those that demonstrate strong capabilities and success.This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere. Due to the remote nature of these roles, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English.Responsibilities:You will partner with and provide support to the Toptal Executive charged with a new business launch, serving as a strategic thought partner, project manager, and executor. Initially, you will demonstrate your attention to detail and be counted on to help with the development of the launch framework and serve as the primary day-to-day Project Manager.As the initiative progresses, you will assist with the thinking and execution around organizational structures, product packaging, go-to-market strategies, and help develop related and back-office operational processes that will ensure efficient, quality, compliant and scalable operations.In the first week, expect to:
    • Onboard and integrate into Toptal.
    • Rapidly begin learning about Toptal s history, culture, and vision.
    • Be introduced to the new business vision and initial launch team.
    In the first month, expect to:
    • Perform research and become familiar with the new business requirements and competitive environment.
    • Contribute to the development of an initial framework and mature the launch project plan alongside the Toptal Executive.
    • Begin actively managing the project plan and running project planning sessions - ensuring that action items and risks are documented and addressed.
    • Develop relationships with leaders from cross-functional support teams that will be leveraged for infrastructure support.
    • Begin participating in thought leadership and design sessions.
    In the first three months, expect to:
    • Make significant progress toward project goals.
    • Participate in the development of operational processes and work with other members of the Incubation team and Product teams in documenting business requirements.
    • Contribute to thinking around go-to-market product packaging and strategies.
    • Contribute to the refinement of the business plan and capacity planning.
    In the first six months, expect to:
    • Continue making significant progress toward project goals and ensure that all contributors are meeting expectations.
    • Continue supporting development and documentation of operational processes.
    • Contribute to the recruitment and hiring of initial business team members.
    • Participate in the execution of the pilot and assist with necessary adjustments.
    In the first year, expect to:
    • Partner with the Executive and broader Incubation team to successfully launch major components of the offering in prioritized markets.
    Requirements:
    • 8+ years combined business operations and consulting experience.
    • Experience playing a significant role in launching a new business venture or significant new offering is strongly desired.
    • At least 1 year working for a major consulting firm with expertise in the development of strategic operational frameworks and executive presentations.
    • 3+ years demonstrated success in developing and managing project plans for multi-faceted, cross-functional projects.
    • Background that includes responsibility for risk and compliance is a plus.
    • Leadership experience with responsibility for business results in a fast-paced, multi-function environment.
    • Creative problem solver with proven results in developing and improving processes in business operations and/or sales environment.
    • Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to influence and execute effectively in a cross-functional environment.
    • Impeccable organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be a high-integrity, driven team player with the flexibility to meet the demands of changing business priorities.
