Nurse Associate - Nursing

Job Description

• Acts as a safe practitioner, demonstrating clinical excellence.
• Acts as an associate nurse delivering the care prescribed by doctors.
• Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient s care needs as required.
• Raises various requisitions related to treatments and Nursing procedures.
• Ensures accurate documentation of care given.
• Ensures effective use of evidence based care and demonstrates commitment to, and participation in, research and audit.
• Ensures the effective use of organization s resources in the delivery of patient care.
• Coordinates with ward secretary regarding admissions, discharges of patients and billing activities.
• Coordinates with other departments related to care.
• Works in accordance with the organization, national and local standards.
• Be responsible for effective communication with patients, careers, other disciplines and agencies.
• Ensures the safety and well being of patients, staff and visitors to the clinical area.
• Work in a collaboration and cooperative manner with other health professionals.
• Participates sand contributes to departmental quality initiatives.
• To be aware of departments performance and objective.
• Carries out data collection/supports in data collection.
• Sustains the JCIA standards.
• Adheres to the safety norms of hospital, follow both patient, and staff safety rules.
• Performs any job/task as and when assigned by the superior.
• Ensures the safety and well being of patients, staff and visitors to the clinical area.
• Maintains patient confidentially at all times in accordance with the organization.
• Responsible for continuing professional development of self.
• Ensures compliance by self and staff with the organization s policy on confidentiality.
• To ensure self and staff maintain a constant awareness of health, welfare and safety issues affecting self, colleagues, patients and visitors, reporting of accidents or fault in line with the organization s policy.
• Participates in health and safety training.
• Participates in personal training and development, including the appraisal process and attend all relevant training courses as required.
• The post holder may be required to undertake other duties as required, which fall within the grading of this post, to meet the needs of this new and developing service.
• Takes care of all equipments, particularly costly equipment on use with patients.
• The post holder is expected to perform the above mentioned duties under the supervision of the RN.

CRITICAL CARE UNIT

• She should be able to perform an accurate, systematic assessment of patients who are critically ill, based on clinical and laboratory data.
• She should use appropriate measures to meet the psychosocial needs of the critical care patients and their families.
• She should have the knowledge on using mechanical and electronic life saving equipment required in the case of critically ill patients.
• She should be able to initiate independently life saving procedure when a patient s condition warrants.
• She must have thorough knowledge on preventing and control of nosocomial infection.
• Ensure thorough knowledge on drug calculation, administration and drug action. Practice administration of drug only after getting license.
• She should have clear knowledge on therapeutic diet and total parenteral nutrition.

PAEDIATRIC WARD

• Ensures gentle handling of children during treatment.
• She must have knowledge on feeding formula, immunization schedule and health education.
• She must know the Ready Reckoner of various drugs.
• Ensures efficiency in handling IV cannulation, fluid calculation and drug calculation. Practice only after getting license.
• Ensures awareness on preventing nosocomial infection.

LABOUR WARD

• To have knowledge on assessing the gestation of pregnancy and FHS.
• To maintain Birth Register and coordinate with MRD.
• To maintain and keep the delivery set and baby receiving area ready before delivery.

RENAL WARD

• She must know the pre and post renal transplant procedures and also cadaver transplant.
• She should have knowledge on dialysis and safe handling of equipment and materials.
• She must have knowledge on therapeutic diet and total parentral nutrition.
• Possess knowledge on prevention of nosocomial infection.
• She should have professional skills in treating the chronic renal failure patients.

EMERGENCY

• She must be aware of MLC procedures, ambulance services and various procedures done in Emergency.
• She must have knowledge on triaging the patient.
• To be ready to manage disaster.
• To participate in the vaccination programmes and health camps conducted by our hospital.

NEONATAL ICU

• To have knowledge on newborn care.
• Ensures feeding formula and immunization schedule.
• She must have knowledge on incubator, photo therapy unit and life saving equipments.
• Ensures efficiency in handling and assisting IV cannulation, drug therapy and drug calculation. Can practice only after getting license.
