Product Design Internship (6 months)

The problem: Thats how we learnt how tough it was to scale data teams. Data teams are the most interdisciplinary teams ever created: Analysts, Scientists, Engineers, Business; Diverse people with their own tooling preferences and skillsets and DNA that need to come together and collaborate effectively. Leading to collaboration chaos.We would be awoken with crisis calls every second day for the minutest of issues - from troubleshooting why number on a dashboard is incorrect to getting access to the right dataset! Atlan started as us building small tools to make our own data team more agile.Over a couple of years, we made our team 6X more agile and went on to do amazing things like build Indias National Data Platform used by its Prime Minister. • As a design intern at Atlan, youll be a part of our amazing team of designers and front-end developers, and get to collaborate with and learn from a talented bunch of designers, engineers and customer-support folks who are committed to building a better data culture in data teams across the world.
• Pick up complex user flows in the product, identify usability issues and work on making them intuitive and easy-to-use for the humans of data. The problem first, solution second - is the philosophy we swear by.
• Own the design process - carry out user and desktop research, create user flows and wireframes, make visuals, and collaborate with the frontend team to bring the visuals to life.
• Iteration lies at the core of the design process - you get to work closely with the rest of the team to understand problem statements, drive features and iterate the product based on feedback from customer-facing teams and analytics.
• Work across modules to design eye-catching and responsive user interfaces, make the user experience on our platform simple and seamless
• Parallelly work on making the product visually consistent across all modules, thereby building the foundation for our style guide.

What makes you a match for us

• You have strong critical thinking skills - i.e. you demonstrate the ability to deconstruct a problem into its base components and figure out the most effective way to solve it
• You dont shy away from learning about complex domain related concepts like databases, cloud technologies, data engineering, querying, etc. because speaking the language of the user helps design for them. Youll stand out if you have a background in Computer Science or a fair understanding of the data ecosystem.
• Your educational background is not a bar as long as you ve got a portfolio of work that shows us your product design skills across user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design
• You have a keen eye for detail and aesthetics, and demonstrate a willingness to cultivate product thinking
• You believe in iterating rapidly and dont shy away from taking creative approach to problem solving
• Youre well versed with standard experience design tools like Figma, Adobe XD or Sketch. Brownie points for experience with making icons, product illustrations, micro-interactions and micro-animations.
• You can communicate effectively - it will be much needed in a remote setup!
