Protein Analytical Scientist

Job Description

Designation: Research InvestigatorDepartment: Protein tech team, SARC-Biology.We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Protein analytical scientist at Research Investigator level to join the Protein purification and analytics group in the Protein tech - SARC Biology, a multidisciplinary team with capabilities in molecular cloning, expression and purification and analytics of proteins, including antibodies, bispecifics and microbially expressed proteins. The ideal candidate will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.Required Technical Qualifications:

• Comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with intact and reduced LC-MS analysis for identification and quantification of chemical modification of proteins. Experience with multiple analytical techniques to identify and characterise attributes of different protein types.
• Should be able to develop and apply novel sample preparation and analytical methods for analysis of protein molecules with emphasis on mass spectrometry (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS and MALDI-MS).
• Should have experience with LC-MS/MS to map and characterise post translation modification such as deamidation, glycosylation, oxidation, cysteinylation.
• Should have an operating experience with either Thermo Orbitrap, Agilent and Waters Q-ToF mass spectrometers. Should have experience with data processing softwares for analysing LC-MS data, such as MassLynx, XCalibur or PMI.
• Should have experience in analytical biochemistry (SEC-HPLC, SEC-MALS/DLS, SDS PAGE, Western Blot, Protein quantification etc.)
• Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, update technical data and maintain accurate records contemporaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
• Work according to established Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and regulatory guidance.
• Should have excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills: Team player and customer-focused
• Should have good publication record.

Desired Technical Qualifications:

• Desirable to have theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in mammalian and microbial recombinant protein purification techniques (including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, SEC, CHT and reverse phase chromatography, TFF) and methods development.
• Some experience with operating FPLC instruments such as AKTA (AKTA PURE, Pilot, Explorer) will be advantageous.

Educational Qualification: PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, bio-analytical chemistry or similar scientific fields.Experience: 0-3 years of experience post qualification. Industrial experience is an advantage.,
