Job Description

Job Purpose Role overview : The Research and Learning Specialist reports to the Executive Director, will lead participatory action research in NEG-FIRE to strengthen our knowledge-base by - capturing, analysing the impacts of our interventions, and pre-empting change on the issues of primary education of children from the marginalised communities. SheHe will bring out evidence-based research documents on the issues of primary education of the marginalised children, for wider dissemination for visibility, credibility and policy influencing purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute all research projects - starting from scoping to produce analytical reports through participatory research methodologies and processes.
  • Bring out evidence-based research reports that highlight NEG-FIRE s program intervention trends, best practices and impacts of our program on primary education from the field.
  • Disseminate the research findings widely among all stakeholders for visibility and credibility through various means such as publications, web-based writings, conferences, webinars, paper presentation, etc.
  • Draw analytical data from NEG-FIRE s web-based M&E system and provide insightful reports to the programme team and NGO partners for program implementation and development.
  • Lead Learning Assessment processes (baseline and end-line) of children in class 1, 2 & 3 on Language and Math subjects in NEG-FIRE s intervention schools in 7 states.
  • Provide supervisory support to MIS Coordinator for data analysis and reports generation
  • Accountability for optimal utilisation of the budget set aside for Research and Learning activities.
  • Extensively travel in NEG-FIRE s intervention states (even the remotest villages), for all research and assessment activities.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

  • M.PhilPhD in Social Sciences, Sociology, Anthropology, Education, or any other related field.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on experience in evidence-based research in Education
  • Must have experience of working with the marginalized communities (such as tribal, dalits, other most backward), on their educational issues
