In this role, you will help contribute to an automated Python testing framework and have the opportunity to work with modern technologies including Jenkins, OpenStack, OpenShift, and Ansible. • Contribute to multiple python test frameworks to assist the Content Availability Testing team with validating the delivery and integrity of Red Hat content made accessible to our customers
• Onboard automated tests into a CI workflow using Jenkins, message bus triggering, and automated reporting of test results
• Participate in code reviews on contributions from other team members
• Work in a sprint-based agile environment using Jira as a task management tool
• Define test strategies for an entire product or large product sub-system
• Recommend making contributions to process and infrastructure improvements within the quality engineering organization
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of testing and product release processes, and participate in open source community testing efforts
• Actively report testing status, as well as identify areas of risk when evaluating product or subsystem readiness
• Lead technical consultations with development engineers to resolve problems and plan testing efforts
• Mentor, coach, and develop junior quality engineers

Required skills

• Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience with 4+ years of experience in Linux quality engineering (QE) or software engineering
• Advanced experience in Python, particularly with object-oriented programming concepts, Python s standard library, and other commonly used libraries e.g., Requests
• Knowledge of Jenkins CI and Ansible Automation; experience with corresponding scripting languages including Groovy, Jenkins DSL, and Jenkins Configuration as Code (JCasC) is a plus
• Experience with Linux commands and Bash scripting
• Experience with writing automated tests and contributing to an existing test framework
• Familiarity with Git and experience with effective Git branching models
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Yocto build system knowledge is a plus
• Knowledge of container technologies is a plus
• Experience with open source software development methodologies is a plus
