Job Description

Teaching Assistant Lifeguard (Full Time / Part Time)with International School, 5 Days a week. Package 4 - 8 LPAPosition SummaryReports to the Director of Activities and Athletics and Head Lifeguard. Responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations of the Aquatics Center, enacting the safety plan when appropriate, and performing additional tasks that may be assigned. This position will require responsible and effective communication with participants at all times. Incumbent will be responsible for opening and/or closing of the facility. Expected to promote and assist with other aquatics programs and assure good customer service. Work shifts may include work days (including early mornings), evenings, weekends and some holidays.Job Responsibilities

  1. Perform lifeguard duties during community swim hours and as assigned.
  2. Available to assist PE Classes when not on lifeguard or other pool duties.
  3. When not on lifeguard duty, assist swim team coaches during swim team practices.
  4. Assist with the supervision of student guard rotation system
  5. Make and post signs/notices for the pool area
  6. Enforce and educate patrons about pool facility rules and regulations.
  7. Test pool water for chlorine, PH & Bromine levels
  8. Coordinate with FMO by completing necessary work order requests
  9. Complete/prepare incident reports as well as daily reports on chlorine level and water temperature.
  10. Set-up/check/put away equipment, as required
  11. Check safety equipment, first-aid kid, and other equipment on a weekly basis
  12. Monitor activities in and near the water through patron surveillance
  13. Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations
  14. Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
  15. Administer first aid and CPR, including using an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  16. Assist patrons, as needed, by conducting safety orientations, etc.
  17. Serve as First Responder on Campus Emergency Response team.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned. Life guards may take on additional coaching or stipended positions as long as it does not impact their regular lifeguarding duties.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Physical Education
  • Certificate/Diploma in Lifeguarding from a recognized institute is required.
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar position, preferably in an educational institution.
  • Other Requirements: Initiative, Flexibility, and Dependability; Ability to take direction; Proficient in conversational English. Ability to communicate and work with a diverse clientele, including students, teachers, staff, parents and other members of the community.
