Join a team recognized for leadership, innovation and diversityCompany - Honeywell Division - Universal Oil Products (UOP)Designation - Principal Strategic Planning SpecialistROLE DESCRIPTION:The role is part of the Central Strategy Office of the VP & Sr. Director (Strategic Planning) of UOP. This will include our rigorous strategic planning process (STRAP), adjacent market exploration and inorganic business development, and market and competitive intelligence. You will work closely within the Strategy, M&A team as well as with UOPs lines of business leadership and functional teams and drive key strategic initiatives and decisions.This will be focused on exploring new strategic business spaces, developing distinctive inorganic strategies, identifying and evaluating right-fit targets and managing the market intelligence function for UOP. The key responsibilities of the role will include:Adjacency / New business space exploration: Identifying lucrative adjacent and / or disruptive markets and offerings that can strengthen the core UOP business, create competitive advantage, enhance value-chain presence, improve geographical play and strengthen overall portfolio and brand for Honeywell. The role will involve:Macro-market view to identify key upcoming growth hotspotsValue-chain deep dives and technology landscaping to assess the lucrative / disruptive spaces Sizing the price of the market to quantify potential opportunitiesRegulatory assessment to understand policies and mandates that impacts the businessCompetitive analysis to evaluate the current and planned sustainable strategy, current and potential threat through competitive activities, and strategies to outmaneuver competitionCustomer assessment to evaluate factors that impact buying decisions, understand strategic shifts in priorities, and UOPs potential offering and play areaInorganic Strategy & Execution:M&A: - The role is focused on crafting tangible inorganic growth strategy for UOP and aggressively executing these growth objectives. Through this the candidate will support UOP to augment current value proposition, expand client base, fill product line or technology gaps, enter into untapped markets and increase global presence. The candidate will be required to:Identify core companies that bring complementary and / or supplementary synergies with the strategic offering of UOP,Identify best fit partner that resonates with the strategic priorities and supports the implementation roadmap of companys strategic vision,Conduct thorough due diligence on targets to enable transparent oversight and accurate valuation of the companyDesign best-fit engagement / operating models that shall provide synergies to UOP businessesMarket Intelligence: Establishing and owning a system of databases, reports, and communications for all information packets on market, competition and products/services that are subscribed by Honeywell (UOP). The candidate will own Market Intelligence and allied subscription for UOP. The role will be focused on:Identifying best data sources that provide relevant, frequent and credible data Streamlining and optimizing market intelligence subscription process to enable strategic use of data to generate business relevant insights Coordinating with database providers to ensure timely subscription, invoicing, renewals, trainings, etc.Working closely with business leaders across functions to identify data needs and creating information packets / reports to facilitate business decisionsSustainability strategic initiatives: The role involves conducting thorough research and draw insights on key sustainability initiatives in cleantech and traditional energy businesses, including:Decarbonization and energy transition goals, emerging technology and disruptions, policies and mandates, sustainable growth and portfolio strategy .Other strategic activities:Core team member playing a key role in strategy development projects across a range of UOPs lines of business for both the business teams and UOP leadership Market research & competitive intelligence to support strategy organization of UOP lines of business, verticals and regions globally.Need based support to leadership with up-to-date information on macro-economic trends, competition, financials, customer trends and other UOP performance analysisWE VALUE / KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSExperience with and ability to understand new technologies, and how to leverage technology to drive innovative strategies and business modelsExperience working with and managing relations with external market research firms and driving secondary and primary research activitiesExcellent project delivery skills - must be able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneouslyUnderstanding of the Industrial Automation industry - End Customers, Competitors and vertical industriesUnderstanding of Competitive Intelligence, strategic planning and marketing concepts and finance fundamentalsHands on research skills and knowledge of third-party research vendors like Onesource, IHS, Thomson Reuters and other Industrial analyst firm databasesInternational experience and proven ability to work effectively across different culturesOutstanding communication skills with ability to communicate and facilitate effectively across regional & organizational boundariesAdept with basic excel/power point / wordYOU MUST HAVEBachelors degree in business, marketing, economics, or engineeringMBAfrom a premiere institute3-4 years of experience in an engineering, marketing or operations role within a technology companyAlternatively, 3-4 years within a top tier consultancy Track record of successful strategy development and execution within role
