Job Description

The Data Governance Analyst is essential to the Data Governance Lifecycle. As the Data Governance Analyst you will contribute to the entirety of the governance lifecycle spanning from the initial discovery of application metadata to driving actionable insights from business metadata. This role contributes to the fundamental understanding of how State Street uses data and assists our partners in achieving their goals. Working within the Enterprise Data Governance Team will allow you to see how we are transforming our bank while also gaining experience in Policy Implementation.The Data Governance Analyst will provide hands on support to the Data Steward Community on the day-to-day use of the Enterprise Data Governance Catalog toolset. The successful candidate in this role will develop and build relationships with the Data Steward Community.Responsibilities:Implement the practice of metadata management, Data Governance Catalogue, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data stewardship tools and platforms.Ensure that all data assets which are subject to the governance processes within the organization are addressed. Support the development and maintenance of an end to end data lifecycle management approach.Contribute to the scoping and defining of tasks needed to be executed to achieve defined level of Data Governance.Execute discovery of application metadata. Meet with business and IT Application owners providing overview of discovery process.Monitoring data quality process, identifying data quality issue patterns, applying remediation plans, implementation of data controls, and manage data quality remediation strategies within Data Governance Platform.Maintain Program documentation and update operating procedures as necessary.Gather and prioritize list of Data Governance reporting requirements.Assist in testing of BI reporting development process for accurate measurement of business unit governance progress.Provide ad-hoc training to Data Stewards requiring further help in entering information into Enterprise Data Catalog.Coordinate application connectivity via direct and metadata templates to enable discovery of metadata, key metrics and key reports and critical data elements.Review discovery exceptions to remediate issue and accurately represent application metadata in Data Governance Catalog.Ensure Business Unit Policy Compliance through the Monitoring of Established Data Lineage and Metrics Progress.Job RequirementsWorking Experience on Data Governance tools like IBM IGC, Collibra etc., is preferred.Ability to understand Data Governance policy and framework, data models, Lineage, Data Taxonomy, and Data Quality Industry best practices.Proficiency in writing SQL queries, Visualization/Business Intelligence tools ( i.e. Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI )Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Management concepts, principles and practices including database structures, Enterprise Data Catalogs, and Operational Data Quality.Proven ability to assess and evaluate processes and perform root cause analysis leading to resolution of data quality issues.Conceptual awareness of Corporate Information Security best practices.Ability to interact with Data Stewards of varying levels of seniority While communicating clearly and concisely.Ability to write and maintain Data Governance operating procedures and documentation.Prior business analysis and operations role with focus on data analysis skillset and transferable Data Governance knowledge.5 years of Technology, Business, Data Governance and management experience,
