Regional Environmental Engineer - APAC

Overview:Our team is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer who will provide regional environmental project support across APAC & MENA. This role is responsible for providing technical support and tactical execution of environmental program across the region. This role will be based in India (with relocation options in future) and will report directly to APAC & MENA Environmental Leader into the Amazon Worldwide Environmental Assurance & Protection (EAP) Field Operations team. The Regional Environmental Engineer will partner with and support the Regional Environmental Managers across APAC & MENA on relevant environmental projects, developing country-level programs, and launch support. The Regional Environmental Engineer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. The Regional Environmental Engineer must possess proficiency in program and environmental regulatory knowledge and demonstrate this expertise when working with teams across APAC & MENA operations.Regional Environmental Engineer Responsibilities: Support with creation of Country Level Environmental technical guidelines and right size the Environmental Programs based on the Country / Business needs. Monitor business / Geo performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and Amazon standards. For all deficiencies, identify a plan along with the REMs to implement and fix deficiencies. Support APAC & MENA EAP field operations in the development of Site Level Capability Programs, Training, and creation of audit checklists, working alongside Global EAP Programs Team. Support with the establishing environmental launch programs (via Environmental Program Assessments) across the region, liaise with 3P Consultants and Launch teams, and establish guidance based on regional needs. Support REMs in rolling out Waste Tracker across APAC & MENA business and operations. Develop business specific SOPs and guidance document related to waste, air, wastewater & stormwater programs. Develop Spill Response SOPs and PMVs. Support with Environmental Permit Tracking across APAC & MENA. Partner with operations, special projects and support teams in supporting the change management process. Analyze environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed and appropriate allocation of resources are needed to manage risks. Conduct site-based Environmental Risk Assessments and Audits as necessary. Facilitate root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementation. Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed in a timely manner Evaluate and develop process improvements for identified risks. Show initiative to identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate any observed non-compliance or potential non-compliance situations, Basic Qualifications- A completed Bachelor s Degree in chemical or environmental engineering or environmental related field of study- 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager- Broad knowledge of environmental regulations & permitting, risk assessments, programs and processes- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Regional and Site leaders- Experience managing change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence peers and superiors- Experience demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and achieve results- Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy- Must be willing to travel up to 50% Preferred Qualifications- Advanced degree or professional certification in Environmental or EHS related field- ISO 14001 or equivalent auditing experience is preferred- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability- Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
