Our platform is deeply customizable to meet the differing demands of our vast user base, creating an exciting environment filled with complex challenges for our hundreds of agile engineering teams every day.Check out our We are Salesforce Engineering video We are Salesforce Engineering Departmental Description:Salesforce is looking for Senior Manager of SRE to drive innovation, empower and motivate a team of seasoned site reliability engineers in an agile environment. In this role, you ll be focussed on building and operating a multi-substrate kubernetes platform, which powers various applications across Salesforce. You will interact with senior leaders, developers, and architects around the world to make our services resilient and highly available. Youll coach and develop SREs as they solve complex production problems through detailed problem management resolution (PMR) process and build sophisticated automation to autonomously manage the environment. You ll work in a fast-paced globally distributed team while quickly learning new skills and creating ways to consistently meet service-level agreements (SLAs) for our services. We believe in passion and personality; as such, we need leaders that can manage diverse, smart, and driven engineers while balancing day-to-day people management with moving the business forward both technically and culturally. Job Responsibilities:In this role you will,

• Be responsible for the high availability of a large fleet of clusters running various technologies like kubernetes, software load balancers, zookeeper, service mesh and so on. You ll gain valuable experience tackling real production issues which will expand your knowledge on the architecture of k8s ecosystem services and internals.
• Hire, develop, and retain a team of SREs. Mentor, grow, and empower your team by giving them the skills, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to their personal and professional success, and enable them to become technical leaders.
• Coach the team on SREs principles: automation, visibility improvements, toil reduction, self-healing, and root cause analysis.
• Manage high-visibility projects delivery, including estimation, schedule, risks, and dependencies
• Establish standard practices and processes for planning and prioritizing reliability work
• Drive a culture of reliability, and ensuring teams are aligned around common priorities and approaches
• Participate in deep technical design discussions within your team, and across partner teams, and ensure that were building the right systems and keeping the quality high.
• Drive cross-team alignment across development and other organizations around reliability initiatives
• Meet with internal customers, supporting deep-dive conversations on product capabilities and escalation or problem resolution surrounding incidents
• Participate in 24x7 management escalation on-call rotation

• Loves putting the detective hat on and enjoys solving complex live site issues that span multiple disciplines.
• Has a track record of managing high-performing teams whilst still being hands-on.
• Has solid experience managing mission critical distributed applications in a large scale production environment. s

Job Requirements:

• BS/MS degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• 4 years of experience managing site reliability/devops teams.
• Experience in recruiting, building and managing high performing distributed team spanning multiple timezones
• Experience operating large scale distributed systems in first party and cloud environments
• Experience with Agile Development Methodologies and Test-Driven Development
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective networks and leverage them appropriately
• Strong working experience with Linux Administration, build/release/config management
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to learn new technologies in complex distributed systems
• Good experience in any of the scripting/programming languages: Python, GoLang etc .,
• Experience with Kubernetes, Service Mesh or Bigdata technologies
• Experience operating services in AWS/GCP/Azure clouds using Terraform, Spinnaker and other technologies
