We make heavy use of open source software and we re committed to being good citizens and contributing back to projects.About The PositionThe Salesforce Deployment Capabilities team is looking for a people leader to lead the SFCD Deployment Capabilities team. The Deployment Capabilities team is chartered with building the next generation of deployment capabilities in Falcon/Hyperforce. We are currently tightly focused on improving the state of the art in Kubernetes application deployment and management in Falcon. Challenges include figuring out the next generation of deployment and lifecycle management capabilities for Falcon services on Kubernetes, simplifying deployments for services leveraging a modern service mesh (Istio), enabling automated deployment and management of the next generation of Kubernetes architectures at Salesforce, ensuring these deployments work at scale, providing sophisticated and automated error analysis for service health, providing various configurable capabilities to support safe deployments across substrates, building custom Kubernetes operators to provide new capabilities for management of K8s apps and more.The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background and a demonstrated history of successful enablement of engineering teams. Your technical aptitude will be used to lead the team to create enterprise architecture designs, standard documentation, transition, and migration strategies. The team will draw on your past experience leading software engineering efforts, providing leadership direction, overseeing development projects, product definition through authoring engineering plans, epics and user stories, and overall team health and efficiency. We are looking for leaders with a background in large scale distributed computing and backend systems. Public cloud experience is highly preferred, but not required.Responsibilities:

• Drive innovation and manage technical projects while balancing tactical and strategic work streams in alignment with business objectives and priorities.
• Ensure your teams have clear priorities, adequate resources and empower them to self organize
• Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members
• Drive quality practices, standards and metrics to achieve high levels of service availability and customer satisfaction
• Maintain high morale and motivate the team to go above and beyond
• Participate in architecture discussions and planning with Product Management and Quality Engineering
• Develop and influence product vision by working with Product Management, Engineering, Support, Infrastructure, Operations and interactions with Customers.
• Actively manage production issues to a satisfactory resolution while adhering to strict internal SLAs
• Foster a culture of service ownership to facilitate customer success and operational excellence.
• Communicate status, risks, and offer mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery of all committed projects to cross-functional teams and high-level management.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or similar field.
• 5 years experience leading software development projects and teams with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects
• 2 years experience as a scrum master of one or more large, fast-paced and dynamic engineering teams is desired.
• 10 overall experience including in a technical individual contributor/engineering role
• Experience building a team from scratch and hiring smart, talented engineers
• Experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies
• Ability to motivate people, instill accountability and achieve results
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, impeccable organizational and time management skills
• Nimble, proactive, comfortable working with ambiguous specifications and can prioritize on the fly.
• Prior development or management experience with cloud computing platforms
• Experience or comfort with leading hybrid teams
