  • Global Trade Services (GTS) is part of the wider Investment Operations global department which encompasses Corporate Actions, Pricing and Security Maintenance. This role within GTS performs a multitude of deadline & analytical oriented tasks across various different functions to support the trading desks by performing completion, confirmation and settlement of trades. Some of the tasks associated with the role may involve (but are not limited to) the following: inputting, matching and confirming trades, resolving discrepancies between parties, resolution of pre and post settlement date security, cash and FX fails, responding to inquiries.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of Sr. Analyst- Core Ops GTS Trade Execution/Completion:
  • Inserts, matches and confirms foreign exchange trades manually or utilizing appropriate systems.
  • All securities utilizing MISYS Matching platform
  • Foreign Exchange (Spot and Forward deals) utilizing CLS platform
  • Resolves discrepancies between both parties prior to settlement date
  • Instructs Custodians on Custodian arranged Faxes.
  • Monitors MISYS & different CLS platforms to ensure settlement of trades.
  • Completion of trades within the deadline.
  • Monitor on the deadline of different currencies.
  • Review of trade duplication and exception reports.
  • Sending daily reports to different groups within GTS.
  • Use different platforms within the Custodian portals to instruct Foreign exchanges.
  • Liaise with different departments inside and outside FT to resolve process related issues.
  • Engage in Vendor Management relationship.
Fail Management:
  • Liaise with Brokers, Custodians and internal departments pre & post settlement to reduce the risk of exposure to Franklin Templeton Investments
  • Pre-match of all security trades on eligible markets
  • Resolution of pre settlement & post-settlement date security fails within global specified timelines
  • Resolution of FX fails within documented timeframes
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve trade related issues for PA and TACC
  • Research on OD charges and reasons for such claims.
Static Data:
  • Monitors dashboard to ensure trade transmission to matching platform MISYS & custodians
  • Research and resolve transmission dashboard breaks and coordinate current and future resolution of issues with appropriate parties
  • Coordinate required broker and custodian settlement instruction updates with SDM
Controls/Metrics:
  • Produces monthly & ad-hoc metrics for functions being performed.
  • Ensures procedures/checklists/contacts are up to date and signed off
Process Improvement:
  • Enhances Straight Through Processing for all functions performed, e.g. participates in projects, offers suggestion to enhance processes and to increase STP rates
  • Takes an active part in the testing of new systems/functions
  • Drives for solutions by constantly looking at reducing risk and streamlining processes such as trade completion and confirmation, verification of holdings, pre-match, and fails resolution
  • Participates in projects/initiatives and converts ideas into execution.
Risk Management:
  • Manage risk and prioritize the workload effectively
  • Escalation of potential issues at earliest possible opportunity
  • Highlight issues and report root cause and trends to management
  • Coordinate audit reviews, responding timely and thoroughly

  • Bachelors degree in business or related major or equivalent experience is required for this position;
  • 3-5 years of investment industry experience required
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
  • Graduate level courses in accounting, finance or management are viewed favorably.
  • Relevant financial industry examination is desirable.
  • Knowledge of system is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Sound knowledge in foreign exchange settlement

  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • Good organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail and accuracy is required
  • Ability to work on multiple deadline oriented tasks

  • Good understanding of the investment management industry & financial markets and ability to make decisions based upon risk
  • Solves problems of moderate scope and complexity referring to policies and procedures for guidance. Recommends procedural and systematic changes based on solution.
  • Partners with technology to develop solutions to system issues that meet the operational processing team global goals.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit in one place for extended periods of time
  • Ability to hear and speak to employees and outside business associates on the phone and in person
  • Requires moderate right and left hand coordination for use of personal computer
  • Ability to articulate information to both internal and external customers in a manner that is clearly and easily understood
  • Ability to interpret letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents
