Our team is responsible to build and operate on-premise VMware infrastructure on Cisco ACI Software Defined Network in a DevSecOps model. We are enabling Cloud Native Infrastructure within CiscoWhat you ll do Software Engineers are responsible for design, development and building our infrastructure as a service. This role is all about infrastructure as code. Developing and automating everything related to our on-prem VMware solutions. You will need to have strong skills in following areas:Design, write, and build infrastructure as code for our VMWare cloud.Applies global knowledge of IT Infrastructure to develop standard solutions that can be leveraged across multiple areasContributes to the development of new technical principles and conceptsLook at new and emerging technology and determine group applicabilityCreating standards and policies and influencing technology decisions beyond own functional area or project;Practice DevOps supporting application from development through the operation lifecycleResponsible for determining and setting SLO s for the infrastructure, creating adequate monitoring and logging for features so that SLO can successfully be measuredWho you will work withWe are a DevOps team inside Cisco IT. This is a small team of highly motivated individuals leveraging Agile scrum. We move at a fast pace and are passionate about automation. Where there is not a tool or project to deliver what we need we develop it. We have a history of building infrastructure at a large scale and are looking for someone with just as much passion as we have.Who You AreYou are a success driven Software Engineer with proven leadership skills and who has a passion for enterprise cloud infrastructure automation and DevOps frameworks. You have a proven track record of designing, developing, and managing infrastructure applications.Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of VMware environments at large scaleExpert level knowledge in VMware networking and storage technologiesInfluence, design and create new architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale enterprise systems.Software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, packaging, deployment, upgrade and support.Experience with software development tools like Git, Gerrit, Spinnaker, and JenkinsExperience with Python, Powershell, Ansible, and shell scriptingDevelopment experience to automate all aspects of the VMware environment lifecycleCisco Unified Compute system experience with blades, fabric interconnects, and rack serversExperience with converged infrastructure stacks like Cisco HXExperience in fault analysis, troubleshooting, and working with VMware and Cisco TACAble to identify issues proactively and develop automation to fix and verify those changesUnderstanding of security including OS hardening, firewalls, iptables, and collaborating with InfosecHelp improve our operational practices to minimize service disruptionsVROPS experience for monitoringWork with our Service Assurance team to modernize and improve our monitoring and alerting stack.Ability to listen to clients and propose and deliver solutions to their needsNon-Technical Requirements: Leadership in designing, building and maintaining full stack technologies Experience in Agile software development practices Working with geographically distributed teams Understand IT processes, including: architecture, design, implementation, and operations Opensource development experience Self-motivated, able and willing to help where help is needed Able to build relationships, be culturally sensitive, have goal alignment, have learning agilityTypically requires BS/BA and 8+ years of relevant experience.,
