Duties and Responsibilities: Design, installation, testing, commissioning and integration of network sites. Adherence to all compliance requirements in Telstra and other carrier policies and procedure manuals. Examining drawings, specifications and work areas to determine positioning and connections for equipment to be installed. Ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools required for site installation. Testing hardware to ensure it is in working order before commissioning. Interpretation of plans and exercise of practical judgement on the optimal method of cutover. Verifying service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems. Erecting, testing and maintaining aerial and underground wires and cables, and radio and mobile phone antennae. Overseeing works of field technicians to ensure installation works are carried out according to standards and of high quality. Fault isolation, analysis and repair requiring a high degree of diagnostic skill. Locating faults in telecommunications equipment. Conducting cable testing and recording; optic fibre testing/splicing and commissioning as appropriate. Undertaking complex cable rearrangement activities. Undertaking the full range of alarm system management. Cable pressure - alarm systems installation, maintenance and repair. Inspect and maintain radio structures. Terminate and test waveguides and antennae. Explain and enforce company rules and regulations, quality and safety requirements; and Ensuring that all data is entered accurately to all databases and in a timely and efficient manner.Skills and Background Required: Minimum Certificate IV in Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent. Must have previous field experience in Telstra installation programs. A reasonable working knowledge of one or more Design and Construction technologies. A Basic understanding of several other Designs and Construction technologies such as Switching, Transmission, Power, Wideband and Buildings. A demonstrated practical working knowledge of the applicable work practices and competency in the above functions as required. The ability to complete project activities safely, to work to instruction standards following the project scope. Must have sound computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have proficient oral and written communication skills. An ability to work effectively in a team environment. A valid certificate in RF awareness (RADHAZ). Valid certifications to operate various plant items. A Current or working towards a senior first aid certificate. Ongoing possession of a current clean drivers licence as will be required to travel to project sites; and Be fully aware of all relevant acts, regulations, codes of practice and bylaws about telecommunication installation activities
