The FDR family of products spans Storage Backup and Recovery, Storage Migration and Storage Performance. These products are used to:provide full volume and dataset backup and restore reports on storage related information available in z/OS Batch reports, TSO/ISPF displays and on GUIMigrate DASD Volumes from the same hardware vendor or between the major hardware providers IBM EMC Hitachi and Sun StorageTek including z/VM and Linux on Z volumes Erase z/OS DASD volumesHigh Speed Dataset Move and volume consolidation Tape Conversion and Stacking Tape Media Utilities Disk Reorganization and Management.PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY:Design and execute test plans for functional and non-functional validation, document test results. Tests product code according to BMC quality standards.Write test automation scripts using automation framework for regression testing.Accurately estimating the size and scope of development and testing effort of projects.Self-starter able to work independently to provide quality solutions with little oversight.Able to manage a mixed workload of multiple ongoing tasks including new function testing and product maintenance.Maintaining knowledge of product environments and applicable software technologiesWork closely with the architects/developers, Quality Assurance Reps, technical publications, and other team members to design, develop, test, trouble shoot/debug features and functions of the product area.Build prototypes to achieve product definition, desired design goals and desired quality.Conduct design, code, and test plan reviewsUse creativity to employ automation and innovative solutions.QUALIFICATION:This position requires experience in designing and implementing mainframe systems software. Strong experience with IBM Assembler.Knowledge of z/OS Internals and Control blocks. Knowledge of various DASD hardware solutions (IBM Hitachi EMC)Experience managing both support and development roles, including quickly and effectively reassessing work priorities.REQUIRED SKILLS:5+ years of experience designing, testing, and implementing mainframe applications and system exits in an IBM z/OS environment.Requires good experience in a combination of the following - JCL, VSAM, SDSF, ISPF, REXX, MVS Assembler programming.I/O and Channel programming Requires a good foundation of Diagnostics, Debugging and Troubleshooting skillsExperience in QA principles, including test planning, test cases creation, execution, test results documentation & defect reporting. DESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) SKILLS:Knowledge of storage management/administration (DFSMS/HSM, tape systems, DASD) a plusKnowledge of Hardware (controllers etc) Experience with Unix System Services (USS)Experience with ISPW Strong Diagnostics, Debugging and Troubleshooting skills, experience with IPCS a plus.
