Job Description

Principal Software Engineer

  • Work on the performance characterization and targeted enhancements for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in cars
  • Collaborate with development, quality engineers, and product management to identify and resolve critical performance issues of this offering and help guide solutions
  • Develop and execute complex performance tests
  • Regularly provide updates to Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Product Management teams
  • Capture and perform statistical analysis on test data
  • Publish results, conclusions, recommendations, and best practices via documents and blogs to the field, partners, and customers
  • Use tools for metrics, monitoring, and results analysis using Grafana, Graphite, collectd, Prometheus, and the Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) stack
  • Triage, debug, and solve customer cases related to performance and scale as needed
Required skills
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Performance and optimization skills
  • Embedded software skills
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CoreOS, or Yocto
  • Edge computing experience
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related experience
  • 4+ years of experience in the IT industry
  • Expertise in Python and scripting
  • Motivated with excellent judgement and decision-making skills
  • Good written and verbal language skills in English
  • Experience using Ansible is a plus
  • Automation experience is a plus
  • Experience with open source communities and processes is a plus
  • ISO 26262 experience is a plus
