Job Description

    Staff Quality EngineerJob descriptionWork as a member of a remote team of automation and test engineers charged with designing, creating, executing and maintaining a suite of automated test cases designed to verify interoperability between our proprietary smart meter products and network management software.The successful candidate must be a strong self-directed learner with excellent debug/diagnostic skills.Essential Functions:Design, estimate and execute automated tests to verify requirements in Aclara software and hardware products.Automate existing test cases using a framework comprised of C#, Ruby, and Cucumber.Work with Senior Test Engineers and Automation Engineers to design new test cases.Author customer-facing test reports and related documentation.Assist with the design and configuration of test environments.Generate and maintain metrics to measure the effectiveness of the test process.Additional Responsibilities:Help improve and maintain testing methods, processes, procedures and standards.Maintain and extend the functionality of simulators and other internal test tools.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Required:Bachelor s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related discipline.3 years software development experience (Ruby or Python preferred, C# or Java acceptable)1 year as a software developer on a team where English was the primary languageProficient with basic Windows operating system administration tasksExperience with distributed source control management systems (Git, Mercurial, etc)Excellent debug/diagnostic skillsExcellent analytical and organizational skills, detail-oriented.Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communications skills.Service and teamwork orientation.Ability to work with aggressive schedules to release product on time.Preferred:Proficient with PowerShellProficient with Git Source Control ManagementExperience with Azure DevOps, Azure PipelinesPrior experience working within an engineering environment.Prior experience writing test scripts and procedures.Experience with defect tracking systems.Prior experience with power distribution or electrical metering.Prior experience with Ruby, Cucumber or similar test scripting language.
